Oh, how very sad. It took 2 hours for dd3 to get one (fear of needles,) but she understood she couldn't leave without it. I don't understand why all colleges are not requiring this vaccination!

This is very sad news. I found the original message:

"There is a young man, 20, a student at Texas A&M, with bacterial meningitis. He is in grave condition and not responding to treatment. His family is asking for prayers and to please have your college age children to get their shots."

What a shame. My thoughts go out to his loved ones at this sad time.

I saw that news also. How tragic for his family.

This really hits home here. We recently had two children, in a nearby school distict, contract meningitis. One of the children, a 4 year old boy, rallied for a few days but had to have his arms and legs amputated. A couple days after surgery, he passed away. A parents nightmare. It came so fast. - The warning signs to be aware of are, high fever, confusion, Stiff neck, nausea, light sensitivity. There are other symtoms, those are just the common ones.

The 10 year old girl, a friend of the boy, recovered after receiving mediction early in her sickness. Before she returned to school most of her classmates were given the meningitis shot. I don't think anyone knows where the infection came from and I hope it never comes back to their school.
