Update - 6 months after renovation

I decided to do an update after living for 6 months in my newly renovated apartment.

I did my entire kitchen with African Mahogany wood cabinets, Labradorite countertop, and Burlington slate Elterwater floor tile. The backsplash is the countertop. I have all drawers at the bottom in the island and main counter, and cabinets at the top. I broke the kitchen wall to open it up to the main living area. Overall I am happy with the look of my kitchen.

My cabinet hardware is Valli & Valli A256 satin nickel finish. I did not follow the usual triangle plan because the kitchen plan would work best if the fridge was in a certain area vs. the microwave or the appliance area. My appliance area is below the microwave and hidden by a wall. The existing plan works perfectly for my cooking style. I have enough space on each side of the sink, and on each side of the cooktop. I really like having all drawers at the bottom. In hindsight I would have planned the top cabinets better for storing spices.

Here are some photos without the countertop installed if you are interested: http://s767.photobucket.com/albums/xx311/Newyorking_ny/Kitchen/

I wrote an update on appliances as well: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/appl/msg021059304323.html?2
