a full-blown whine ...

it started with that darned caesar salad dressing this morning and it's been downhill since then...i had wanted to try out a pear tart recipe today because ted's co-worker sharon gave him 5 or 6 beauties but i'm not going there today! not all blonde and not all dumb...

i've told you guys before that i am flour-challenged and a lousy housekeeper and both are simply statements of fact. and every time i start a cleaning project, it leads straight to more trouble. because we had a new heater installed in the dining room, we had to repaint. and started that little project a couple weeks ago. we are slow at that sort of thing and worse yet, i'm picky about the results. most of the edging and trim work was FINALLY done and it wouldn't be any big deal to get a 2nd coat on the walls, would it? but i'll bet you already know the answer to that one...

i was washing the glass panels in the dining room door that leads onto the deck and remembered that it can be removed via a couple of screws. so ted took them out and put it into the bath tub for me to wash (the gas grill is just on the other side of that door and it really gets to be an awful mess). finally got them decent and carried the frame and glass outside to dry. i'd taken down the 3 ceiling fixture frames and their plexiglass covers last week and and washed and left them to dry in the living room. we painted those frames and ted went to retrieve the door's glass and frame and discovered that the seal in the window had broken. he didn't say anything and just sort of smooshed things back together! i found out as i was holding things and he was putting the screws back into place. what was all that fogginess on the glass? that's when he told me... well that will either get better or it won't--too late to do anything and he wanted to go for a ride before the sun set. as i was carefully closing the newly painted door, i caught my nail and ripped part of it just below the skin line--how annoying! but it was very pretty out on the waterfairly sunny and quiet and just plain pleasant and things were better. and he said that he'd put the ceiling fixture covers in place while i got things moving in the kitchen. he was having trouble getting one of the plexiglass covers into the frame and it's no wonder! it would seem that over the course of being left out to dry, there was enough sun to cause it to warp and there's a pretty good crimp through part of it! i won't even talk about how it looksÂwe can get that replaced later, i guess...

went to get a glass of wine and take the romaine out to wash it. and caught that broken fingernail on the edge of the cellophane that the romaine was packaged inÂouch, OUCH! by now i'm THOROUGHLY annoyed and here I thought we'd have a lovely dinner in our freshly painted room but clearly none of that is gonna happen here tonight...just another example of a simple bit of cleaning leading to nothing but trouble. my best advice is to leave it to the experts--seriously. so, how does this housecleaning stuff work out in your household? and please don't tell me what wonderful things you are dining on. i think i'll raise another glass or two and call it a night...
