Oh San, I know how you feel !!! I went to the dentist on Thursday, to have a bridge done, and I left with a face that is swollen up 5 times the size. Thank heavens I didn't really have any plans this weekend, because I'm in alot of pain too. Life is terrible sometimes, but we will look back and laugh. There are better days ahead !!! The nail will get better, and as for the frame......well....it too can be replaced. I hope you have a better tomorrow!!! Diana55................. oh diana--i'm so sorry! i really was speaking tongue in cheek and just plain whining!!! i didn't mean to compare a broken nail to anything at all and i am sorry that you needed some work to begin with and that on top of that, it clearly didn't go well :( (but your pic is absolutely adorable--i love it!)

I'm ready to whine and wine too. San, I'm sorry you had so many things go wrong, little projects turn out much bigger than we think they should. Diana...I have lots of sympathy for anyone going through dental problems...been there.

My day started off good, went to work, things were slow, so I got out of there early. Kim and I decided to head to
Traverse City, I wanted to stop at a couple farmers markets, which we did. So far so good.
We got to Traverse and hit the mall... fall clothing SUCKS this year as far as I'm concerned...at least what I saw does. So it's time to eat, we had heard about a new restaurant and wanted to try it... couldn't find it. Ended up having burgers....not the nice dinner we had in mind. We then went grocery shopping at a store I really like....it was getting late so I hurried up and we headed home. Almost made it home (it's a 1hr trip) when a deer decided to jump out of the woods at us. We were on a quiet county road, no other traffic, so all is well....except for the whole side of the car was damaged. Front bumper all the way to the back bumper which was almost torn off. I called 911 on the cell, it took almost an hour for an officer to come and write up a report. Knew I needed that for the insurance company. We just got home.
Now I get to run around Monday to file a claim and get an estimate...grrrrr. This is the second time this year that the car has been hit by a deer, the first was when the car was all of 1 month old. Bet the damn insurance goes way up!

I'll join in the whine and wine group. The girls have been gone since Thursday and you think that with only Hayden I would have got some things done..... nope, not a thing. I did manage to get 3 walmart sized sacks full of green beans and wax beans and trying to get them ready to can. Never mind the 22 quarts of beans that I have already done. We went to volleyball yesterday at 8 and got home at 7:30 last night. I was so pooped I fell asleep on the couch. Hayden had his shots on Thursday so is still a little crabby, he had a 101 temp all day on Friday. So with a messy house, clothes to be washed, and beans wanting in canning jars, I will whine with you ( would love the wine but 9 in the morning is too early:))

San I am just like you when it comes to cooking and housework. I just don't have the patience. If it can be hacked up and put in a pot or pan, that's my kind of dish, but if it has to be shaped, rolled, molded, dipped, layered . . . I do bake, but mostly drop cookies or bar cookies and quick breads. As for housework, I am the same way, I procrastinate because there is nothing I hate more than working for four hours on something and then have it look like carp when I am done. Especially when I have been trying my hardest on it. My house is full of stuff like that. Most of my furniture I had to put together myself, and some of it is kinda scary. I leave it to professionals whenever I can, but it's hard to even find a professional who does good work. Catch as catch can has been my experience. I hired one of my best friends to paint my guest room that had been in a mess for two years while I figured out what to do with it. He did a fabulous job. Then I had to repaint the trim on the baseboard after the floors got refinished. Well, I found out that the baseboard was painted with that other kind of paint, can't remember what it's called, not latex. So when I painted over it with latex paint, it didn't stick and is now peeling off. This is just typical of one of my projects. Hours of work wasted because now I have to do it over, repaint it with a basecoat made for both types of paint, and then cover it with the latex. Someone else would do that up in a flash, but once again I'm putting it off.

And I'm clumsy as all get out, I have the scars to prove it. Plus I'm almost always black and blue somewhere. My dream was to marry a handy man. I would cook and garden and he would do all the fix ups. I'm in awe of coordinated, handy people, but I am NOT one of them, no amount of practice makes up for it. At best, I can get up to adequate.

That's why I do canning as a hobby. It is so darn easy, at least the boiling water bath part. Even if your jam doesn't set, you're still left with good sauce. There's nothing like the satisfaction of a job well done for the fruits of your labor. When it goes the other way around, well ya just have to breathe deep, let it go and count your blessings. And have a glass of wine, or tea, which is what my British friends do. This morning I'm on tea.

Ah, reminds me of the time I decided to do some good kitchen cleaning. I cleaned my oven, microwave & my side by side refrigerator one weekend. They all worked fine-until I cleaned them. Had to replace a thermostat in the stove, the compressor went out in the freezer of the side-by-side. The microwave still worked, but the fan developed a sound. That was an expensive cleaning, almost made me give it up completely...

Oh san you poor baby that will teach you to do hose cleaning!! Nancy that car of your is cursed!

Go ahead ladies and whine with your wine...I sure have been the last two weeks....well whine , no wine. However now I am off the antibiotics look out scout!

About house work, my grandmother used to say she was going to give it a "lick and a promise" It was years before I really understood that statement, but I always loved the way it sounded. She also used to say she didn't have a "pot or a window." That was another thing it took me a long time to 'get' but I did know it meant there was no money for extras. She knew the truth about cleaning house, it was a waste of a good morning. But she was quite particular about how we hung clothes on the line. It had to be sorted so the line looked neat and orderly, shirts with shirts, towels with towels, and of course the underwear had to on the inside lines so they weren't seen.
