OMG, I'm turning into my dad!

Sitting here watching the news about this stupid "stimulus" package, I've found myself talking to the tv. Yelling at the tv, like the guy on there can actually hear me.

That's funny. I was just at my neighbors who invited me over to watch TV and we all watched it together. It was like a sporting event. Everyone yelling "He's lying!" "No." "Ridiculous!"

Thank you agenspuffin, You are 100% right cancer cannot be diagnosed without a biopsy and there are stages. With a biopsy it would tell them what stage the cancer is at. Good news, at least what I hope is good news. My son works for a hospital and he's talked to nurses and they've told him the very same as I , we already know. Son told me that one nurse told him of a very good Urologist. Only thing is getting dad to change doctors once again if need be. I fear that if dad's currant doctor say's he wants to do chemo without the proper steps and I ask him about doing a biopsy and he say's it's not need I'm liable to come undone and tell him off. I had not thought about a kidney infection, he's never had one in the passed but he had just seen the doctor and thought that surely they'd check for that but then I don't know if they check for thing's like that every time he goes in. I went over to dad's today and he was having a bad day as for not being clear headed. When I told him that he had to go back to see his doctor he asked why and I told him that they'd said his PSA was high and the doctor wanted to see him again. Dad doesn't hold on to thing's he's told and asked what that meant, so I told him when the PSA is high is can mean cancer. He took it better than I though he would. Thank you all for your support it really helps to talk to others about family health problems.

Pesky, I didn't see your post earlier, but want to express my sympathy on this sad situation. I don't know if this might work in your case, but something I did when my dad needed help was to write letters to all of his doctors giving specific examples of his condition and the situation with my mother, who had lied to the doctors. They couldn't discuss his case with me, but I know the letters were read and most acted on them. We managed to get a geriatric specialist nurse and her assistant into my parent's condo, under the pretense of being worried about my mother's stress, and they confirmed the reported neglect and elder abuse. That led to my dad being placed in a very nice secure care facility for Alzheimer's patients. Your brother's case is clearly different, but perhaps you might be able to persuade his doctor(s) that he poses a danger to himself and others unless he gets appropriate treatment. FWIW, I'm a firm believer in gun ownership rights, and have a concealed carry permit. In this case, however, it might be a good idea to write a letter to the local law enforcement about your brother's illness, the threats he has made and your concern about weapons in the home. They might at least run a check to see if the guns were all obtained with appropriate permits or maybe some LEO would encourage your SIL to remove the weapons from the home, giving her the courage to follow through on your advice. I've never been married. I'm 56 now, so I realize it's not going to be easy to find a partner. I dropped out of college in 1980 to take care of my grandmother who helped raise me. Then I became the caregiver for three other relatives in succession, the last was my father, so I didn't get out enough to meet many single men. I got back from Cache Creek casino sooner than expected. One of my cousins wasn't feeling well so we had to come home early. Now that I'm home, I'm feeling depressed, partly because I lost money, and didn't have time to win it back, but mostly because I miss my dad. I thought of how much more fun the trip would have been if he were with me. I remembered the time when we gambled all night together in Reno, when we both were much younger. We arrived home exhausted but happy. I wish we could have had more fun times like that. I thought about my dad on the long ride home and how the world seems so empty without him, even though there were crowds of people in the casino and on the roads and freeways. It's hard to believe I"ll ever feel better, but I know I'm feeling extra weary from lack of sleep. I couldn't sleep well last night, because I was crying so much, more than before. It's a different kind of exhaustion than the kind you get from having fun. I know that no one can take my dad's place, but it would be nice to have someone here to talk over the trip with and to just watch tv with at the end of the day. I feel for you bpath. They can be such little stinks. Some of by cats never scratched a thing, but into adorable Siamese tore into everything. I tried catnip on scratch posts, catnip on cardboard -- you name it. I see a couple of solutions. Along the artsy lines, you could take some strands of yarn and attach them to a sort of header to hold them together and then I fix that to the areas that are already gobstoppers (I spoke the word gouged up, but out came gob stoppers – whatever they are). Then the cats can just enjoy the rest of their days playing with already cut sections of yarn and he could be a conversation piece. Yes, another conversation piece. Or you can take something like plaster of Paris or wax and form a sort of shell over that area - like a cast, but in color. You can paint it or add different colors of wax or clay. I just saw one of these amaryllis bulbs in a clay-like "pot" molded over the bulb. It looked great. I bet something like that could actually look kind of cool along the edge of your couch -- like a molded pottery patch. Then there is another solution.

I've done the same thing. I used to close the door to the room where Bob was hollering at the tv. Now I go in there and yell right along with him. It's all so ridiculous and some people are still buying into the thought that they won't have to buy their own gas or pay their mortgage. I cannot say what I really want to say here without getting political and the Hot Topics forum seems to be for arguing more than discussing.

Hahahah, oh, I'm not all alone after all.
I'm always complaining about morning newscasts, "stupid Maggie", or "stuff it Charlie", Or "you big bunch of fakers" in front of my dh. He doesn't comment, just lets me! And that's just the nice things.
I'm glad I don't do that to anyone that's not in a
TV. They have shown their true colors way to many times, so I don't trust anything they have to say, especially about the government. They're so left they can eat dinner on their a$$. If they could report just the facts, good, bad and inbetween, on the 'stimulus package' as they are, I might be able to digest it all without commentary. I'm preparing to call my congressman, probably Friday.

LOL that's funny, i've found myself starting to lean towards my democratic fathers' old-fashioned republican fiscal beliefs! i am sooo sick and tired of hearing about the stimulus package and am constantly saying things i hear my dad say...like 'stop whining people and help yourself, don't expect help from others'. makes me feel old...how did this happen LOL i'm NOT old lol ~ liz

Sorry, didn't mean to get so political, just thought it was funny I was yelling at the tv like my dad used to do. Even Alex made the comment that I sounded like my dad. He hasn't really been around my dad since he was little, other than visiting for a week or two and he remembered. I thought my dad was a grouchy old man. LOL!

when i was in my 30's someone at work told me i had a phone voice. now normally someone might take that as a compliment but it sent me over the edge LOL. mostly because my mother had her usual voice she used w/ me then her phone voice (and nice personality lol) she used on the phone & w/ everyone else LOL. i spend 6+ hours a day at work on cell phones and landlines and yes i do have a phone voice LOL, actually a perfect phone voice too or s i'm often told :-) ~ liz
