Baby Clothes

I have tons of Baby Clothes(Twin Girls), most of them worn only a couple of times.

I gave away a lot of Unisex clothes to my family. Now I am left with all the Girlie stuff.

Any ideas how I can make some cash out of it? I sure could use the cash for updating the kids room furniture.

Try a consignment shop in your area.

Consignment shops are terrific. My DD had most of her clothes bought from and sold back to the same shop and her entire baby / toddler wardrobe cost next to nothing.

If there are no consignment shops in your area, there's always ebay, but that can be a lot of work for not much return unless the clothes have designer labels.

If you decide donate the clothes, just make sure you can get a record of the donation with a dollar value on it for a tax write-off.

I use a nylon tricot interfacing from the regular interfacing area. It has a one way stretch. You iron it on with that stretch going opposite of the garment stretch. I then hoop a tear away & spray it with adhesive & simply lay the garment on it to embroidery. After I remove the tear away, I iron on another layer of the tricot....direction does not matter here. This layer covers any roughness of the embroidery threads. I do have to go back & iron this after a few washings because you can't use a real hot iron to attach it. It tends to loosen at the edges after a few washings. I use this method for all children's wear where the stitching will touch their body. I use the tricot as a base layer for all knits. I have a 7 year old great niece that swears by this method & knows exactly how to fix bought items that scratch her too! Shortly after I first learned this method, she was trying to tell my daughter the secret way I fixed things & my daughter had no idea what she was talking about. They came to my house for something & she went in my sewing area & got a piece of the interfacing & took it to my daughter saying "This is what you need". We laugh at the 7 year old teaching the 37 year old new ideas.

Try soaking them in a white vinegar and water mix (I'd say a cup of vinegar per gallon of water) in a bucket or the sink. The vinegar smell will go away after you wash them. It will take more time than washing with ammonia, but at least it's not toxic. If that doesn't work you might try soaking them in Oxi-Clean. I soaked my son's football uniform after he conveniently forgot to bring it home for a few weeks (think smelly socks times a million!) and it took a couple of tries but it got clean.

CafePress.com, perhaps? a lot of sayings; several versions of 'grandpa,' 'granddad,' 'papa'; some are "hobby" related -- if he fishes, or plays golf or whatever, the love theme is incorporated with that. if/when you look at the website, click on the blue link that says "See all products from the xx collection," cuz the illustration may show, say, a onesie, but there are other items with the saying, too. here are some i came across: "I can melt my grandpa's heart. Thank you so much to everyone! I had a huge comment typed out yesterday and lost it so I became a bit disheartened. beagles - there is a kohls near the inlaws so I will have a look! Nini - What a different world! Things are so different from region to region. I had never even heard of hand smocking children’s clothes. Or home parties for clothing either. Although with all the pyramid schemes preying on stay at home moms now, I think at home children’s clothing parties could be a big hit! Maybe I should get in at the ground level, I mean the top of the inverted pyramid. I have checked out the three lines you mentioned and they all seem very cute. I believe there is a designer baby boutique near the in-laws that carries at least Kissy Kissy! Shee - For when something actually exists in Canada! I was just in Gymboree the other day and picked up some summer clothing for the kid to take to Florida. It does seem very cute! maddielee - Do you mean how they are all outdoors? It doesn’t bother me but I do try to soak up the heat to the max every time I’m there! I went on a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Florida Southern College campus. I had to laugh because he presumed that people in Florida wanted to take a vantage of the “mild climate” so left a lot of the buildings open to the outdoors. They have since been glassed in, bug-proofed and air-conditioned!

A consignment shop if you need the money (who doesn't) but definitely donate anything else. I bundled up old baby clothes in bags and sold them for $2 each at a garage sale. Don't bother keeping anything. My kids are now 19 and 20 and have no interest in looking at their old stuff. I kept babyspoons and hand-knit sweaters, nobody even bothers to look at them. Photos in a book are at least neat and compact.

If it is designer labe then i've heard ebay will work well.

My wife does a couple consignement sales/yr. The ones were you have to tag everything you owne then work a shift and they still take about 30% of the proceeds. I joke w/ her all the time that she would make more money if she got a part time job at McDonalds.

So unless you are considering working for less than minimum wage, I would suggest donating it and takinging the tax deduction. Mabye donate it to a local woman's shelter or something. It might make more of a difference than dropping it off at the local good will.

i brought baby items, including my maternity clothes and a crib, to a local group that helps unwed mothers, called "Borthright". They were very pleased and I got a receipt for taxes.

I also have twins, boys. I have a TON of baby clothes I plan to try to sell on ebay or craigslist.

As for e-bay, why couldn't you sell the clothes in lots. 10 dresses for 10.99 or whatever. To try to sell kids' clothing one by one would not be cost effective.

I got rid of my baby clothes years and yeaes ago. My youngest is now 21. As I said above, there are many charities that will be happy to accept clothing. The one I used is called "Birthright". They help pregnant girls to carry and deliver their children safely.

Run you an ad in the local paper. I bet there's a mom of twin girls out there who would be thrilled to death to gt a bargain on cute clothes for her girls!
