the smell of cilantro...mmmmmmmm...

I just went out and covered my rosemary from an expected frost, and came in with a very familiar experience...each time I am in the herb garden, or even when Scott mows near there, I am overcome by the wonderful smell of cilantro!

Why does it have such an effect on me??? I keep waving my hand by my face, closing my eyes and losing myself in it?!?!?!?!

I know cilantro is one of those things that affects different people in different ways, but it really "gets" me....

I agree, to me there is something so "fresh" smelling about cilantro, kind of in the same vain as squeezing citrus peel. I love it. Dill and mint, too.

I'm another who loves the smell of cilantro. I also love the smell of sweet basil, lavender and sage.

Recently I made basil pesto and got to thinking about making some cilantro pesto.....

    Stacy,
Me too!! In the dead of the winter doldrums, my favorite perk me up is adding fresh cilantro to a dish. There's something about smelling fresh cilantro that just says "Summer...Fresh!"

Another here who loves cilantro. There's something about the combo of cilantro & lime that perks me up on a hot, humid summer day.

    It makes your mouth water?

Stacy my friend, you probably remember that herb has the same effect on me, but not in a good way.
You know, when your mouth waters just before you throw up? That's what Cilantro does for me.

And it's not like I haven't tried to befriend this pungent herb; I even made room for it in my garden this year, and that poor thing struggled for my affection. It did the Mexican hat dance, it bolted, it gave me a pretty, white flower bouquet, it waved a white flag and finally it keeled over. RIP.

However, the herbs I planted again this year which are responsible for unlocking all my senses remain the same: lavender, lemon basil, oregano, rosemary, sweet basil, and chocolate mint.
