Nail files

I've decided that I want to buy a new nail file. (I didn't even know they had 'glass' ones.) But as I'm looking at all the ones that come up in my search, I can't decide which kind would be best. Which kinds have you tried and liked?

I've used nothing but Diamon Deb for the last 30 years. Occasionally I try others, always toss them and go back.

Here is a link that might be useful: This one, have a shorter version for my handbag

Exactly what Morz8 posted. Diamon Deb only, both long and short. I order them from Amazon. After all these years this file remains unique!

Hi Mike, This variety is nothing short of miraculous no matter how you look at it. It's a robust tree that in my experience produces really thick tips, huge inflos with tons of flowers, and the inflos just continue to produce flower after flower, but I don't need to report that as I am sure Bill has all ready! Hi Elucas, I hope your right! I am a firm believer that raw eggs help to root plumeria cuttings, but I still continue to use them even after the cutting has rooted. As I mentioned above, I have had this cutting for 3 years now, and I have given it 2 raw eggs every spring, and by fall, the eggs are gone! I know it is helping my tree(s) because when it comes time to repot, the roots are super thick, and the root ball itself is considerably larger. I need to get my spray bottle ready for the Spray in Grow. I should just buy as sprayer this year and make it easier on me. Thanks Plumiegirl. Andrew

Interesting. I have strong nails so prefer the emery boards that are used for fake nails b/c I can shape fast. They are cheap so easy to keepn stock even if they wear out quickly. Are glass nails adequate for strong nails? how about toenails? Website is nice and it would make a very girlie, unique gift. thanks for sharing

Need a nail file for my dog

I did use a glass nail file from Sally's. It was $3-4 IIRC. I was worried that it would last for only 4 uses. I want something that won't wear down. I thought maybe some tool that files metal? She would run from a dremell. My other dog has been trained for pedipaws (which is like a dremell), but my little girl dog freaks out when I turn it on. I'm lucky she handles the manual nail clipper (which my other dog would not tolerate).

HELP with house plant in a bottle project

That's likely to make a very closed terrarium, just open top, likely to mildew, sorry to say. Sounds like you only want the plant to grow out the top of the vessel, if I understand correctly. You really ought to read up on growing plants in enclosed environments, it's not as easy as it's made to look. I've resisted answering here, 'cause I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, but I think it may be logistically &/or mechanically unrealistic & you have asked exactly that. Personally, I think the bottle, cut &/or etched might be lovely w/out a plant too.

I too had a Diamon Deb I used for probably 30 years until I lost it in the last year or so...sigh.

I ended up getting a Sally Hansen "Ahead of the Curve" file from WM...about $3. It is a 2 step sapphire file...one side for shaping and one side for smoothing. I like it (I think anyway) as well as my old Diamond Deb, but still hate losing it after all these years. Hope it turns up someday.

Something else I like and don't like to be without is the Trim 7 way buffer.

It shapes, evens out the nail surface, smooths and shines.
It wasn't much...again at WM maybe $3-$4.

In reading the reviews on Diamon Deb at Amazon, it seems they are now made in China and not as well liked as the older 'good' ones made in the US.

I have a short diamond file I bought in Woolworths in 1964. Still keep it in my bag and use it regularly.

Another Diamon Deb fan here! I tried one of the glass files, just because I was curious. It became smoothe after only a few uses.

Thanks so much for your responses. I'm not sure what I'll end up getting, but I'm more knowledgeable than before.

hounds, thanks for your review of the glass one.

chemocurl, I got a set of individual buffers years ago from QVC, and use them about once a week.

With so many of you recommending the Diamon Deb, I'll probably buy one, even if it is made in China now, and not as good quality.
