We just got back from our, first in several years, camp out we slept in the back of the truck with a canopy over us. We put a piece of plywood on first then 2 layers of carpet,left over from remodeling, then our memory foam then a matress pad then a few wool blankets. We never felt the cold, but as we are both getting artheritis we did feel the hard. We are trying to decide if we would ever get back to camping or not. I did not like the crowded campground and Hubby did not like getting up with me twice to go potty in the middle of the night. He had to return to work the next day he didn't think he would but.... I will always enjoy camping, but next time we hit the far out there woods! Where his @#$% cell phone can't reach us!

Ok, I'll add my bed making since it's a bit different - bottom up: Mattress, terrycloth fitted sheet as mattress cover, fitted or flat sheet, me, 1 wool blanket in winter or flat sheet and 1 cotton blanket in spring/fall or flat sheet in summer. We do have a dawn comforter (thickness supposedly for Greece's climate) but we have only used it maybe 3 nights in our 8 years of marriage. NOW there is something bulky I could declutter... only it was rather expensive and perhaps we will need it someday with the climate changing, or if they turn the heating on less in the building (it's central - we have no control over when it's on). And I have the space to store it for the moment and if something has to to go it will sooner be the 4 lace covered decorative pillows that Mom gave me with my trousseau (along with all other bed and table linen she thought I had to have those too) that I never used and doubt I'll ever will... I am definitely going to order the bath mat, too. I think I will enjoy the look of it as much as the feel. I have a terry one now, but this one would be nice. I would like to get a couple king size pillow slips just because I like having the extra fabric to completely cover the ends of the pillows. Will probably get the apron instead of the pinafore. I need to spread out my purchases, though. Oh, and I definitely need the bed skirt for the downstairs guest room! Jeepers, I could go on and on. Oh and I washed the sheet, summer cover, and pillow slips today. I put the sheet on the bed to dry and stretched and smoothed it. No need for ironing! It looks wonderfully smooth. I did iron the pillow slips. Looks so nice! The summer cover is rinsing now.

DLM I have Natural Latex pillows that were recommended many years ago by Tibbrix when she participated here. I tried to buy a 2nd pillow but had trouble finding one of theirs that didn't have wool core, which my original did not. I emailed the company and they connected me with a place that sold the solid foam in the USA. I looked at Amazon and their listings are really goofy; one says the pillow is latex but the description says it's memory foam (which I doubt). I don't see anywhere that sells the solid foam without the wool core, but they claim the wool makes it even more temp regulating. I searched for her original post about the brand and it's posted below (OMG I hate this site. I tried to add something to my post and it deleted the original post but posted the addition, then wouldn't let me edit it. I'm starting over but what a pain this place is.): "Natura natural Latex Ultimate pillow. This pillow is just the right balance between firm and soft. I have two, because I ordered the standard first, and Canadian standard is smaller than American, then got a queen. I keep the standard on my sofa. My neighbor's daughter put her head on it one day and immediately mentioned how great the pillows, that she wanted one. Her parents ended up giving her one for Christmas last year. Can't even describe it. Firm enough that it holds your head, but soft enough that it doesn't hurt your ears after lying on them for a while. They're great. You can get them in some American mattress stores."
