When you delay going to the doctor (to find out if that pain in your right side is really your appendix) two hours while you water the baby (mostly tomato) seedlings, move them to the basement, and set up the timer and the last shoplights so they'll stay alive in your (possibly extended) absence. When you spend hours of your recovery time writing and printing labels with not only the variety names, but detailed descriptions for the several dozen extra seedlings you're giving to the scholarship plant sale. [It wasn't ever very painful, but the CT-scan impressed the radiologist, the appendix impressed the surgeon, and I didn't get home for 3 1/2 days, which is ... not normal. (I'm convinced it would have been a day or two less if only they'd ever let me sleep.) The seedlings did quite well in my absence.]

Aluminum cooking utensils, aluminum foil and pots and pans do not cause Alzheimer's Disease. Tami, if Alzheimer's Disease runs in your family there is most likely a genetic link. From the day my Mom was diagnosed I have read anything and everything I could get my hands on about Alzheimer's Disease (one of the reasons I got the internet) and there is nothing that links aluminum from cooking utensils as a cause. If you are worried about ingesting aluminum stop drinking water, stop taking Tylenol, stop taking antacids and stop drinking tea or even wearing antiperspirants. In my research and book reading on Alzheimer's Disease the first comment ever made linking aluminum from cooking utensils and foil was by researcher/scientist telling a joke at a cocktail party - somebody overheard the words "aluminum foil" and "Alzheimer's" and the word was spread that aluminum pots and pans cause Alzheimer's Disease. Other than home-schooling, this is my sister. She has 8 children. She is the wife of dairy farmer. She can and does do all of the things this ad mentions. Although I think this guy is a crackpot, what he is describing is most rural farm wives. She literally cans hundreds of jars of produce to get them through the winter. She can drive a tractor, milk the cows, make dinner, clean the house, do 2 loads of laundry every day, change diapers, help with homework, make a meal for a shut-in, pick up a couple kids from soccer practice and still have time to kiss her hubby good night. (yes, he works hard, too) As far as I can tell, they love their life. Me, I'm an office girl and have no desire to work that hard!!

Thanks for sending us a couple of cooler days, sandyslopes! Yes, I really wanted a larger size hosta this time. The one problem I have at the moment is that the place where I wanted to put it currently has a Brim Cup there. No problem, I was just going to move that. But it seems like it's dying which has me worried that the planting spot is bad. I don't want to put my precious new Dancing Queen in bad planting hole. Tomorrow, I dig up the Brim Cup and see what's happening with it before I decide if that's where I'm going to put DC. I'll post pics of the roots when I unpot it.
