My Book Club (by request)

As requested by Alisande and Pam_25f in the "You show me yours..." post, I will talk about the book club I've been a member of for 12 years.

There are 10 of us and we meet 10 times a year, taking July and December off for vacation and holidays.

We're a very diverse group. Milly, the founder, has roots in Puerto Rico, we have others with roots in Ireland, England, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Romania, Israel, Poland and the good old US of A. We have many of the religions covered too. Mormon, Jewish, Catholics, and so on.

Many of the members are retired teachers or principals but there is also, a retired doctor (the gal I've done the majority of my world travels with), a professional story teller, an office manager, pharmaceuticals sales, and me, the graphic designer.

Each month, one of us chooses a book to be read the month we want to host the meeting. In the beginning only snacks and coffee or tea was served but now it's grown to full dinners.

Here are some photos I took at last Saturday's book club anniversary party. I've taken the party photos the last five years. The book we read was called Murder on Astor Place and takes place during Victorian days. At each seat was a framed photo with famous women from the Victorian era.

We got to keep our framed picture plus won several prizes during games we played earlier in the day.

Lots of wonderful appetizers, entrees (prime rib & baked salmon!), sides and desserts and of course free flowing wine. So much fun!
