Different drummer in a different band, different town, different parade and different state. More than just a little off the mark! K

Sorry the BS range won't work for you. It certainly doesn't have a self-cleaning oven. The stove burners, however, clean up very easily. We had a spill the other day (Bolognese sauce) and our solution was to pull out the drip tray and replace the aluminum foil we'd put there. For the grates, we placed the soiled one over the 18K burner and turned it on high. Then we just took a wire brush and brushed off the char and that was that. Since it's an open burner design, the spills don't show so badly as they do on sealed burner models. The other reasonably priced range I encountered when I was looking was one from American Stove ($2,700) and Capital. I believe the Capital Precision 30" offers self-cleaning in an all gas range for something around $3,500. FYI, the Capital company is the result of the DCS engineers starting up their own range company, so if you have opinions about old DCS ranges, they will likely be applicable to the Capital ranges. Those are the only brands I looked at that were reasonably priced, but someone may be able to share details regarding the KA, GE and other more mainstream brands. Also, I saw someone posting a message here about Vintage ranges. You may want to check that one out. Good luck and enjoy whatever you decide. Ok.. I ditched the idea of adding some additional sound proofing to this machine. The drum clearance is just not enough to get even 1/2" of foam or other material in there to deaden any sound without it rubbing on the drum.. Oh well..

Have gas dryers changed since the 90's though? The one I have was purchased in 2011. Mine doesn't bake the clothing. In fact, unless I turn the sensor to more or most dry, my clothing is still slightly damp. I also have a "shrink guard" setting that lowers the temperature in the damp to dry phase (prior to cool down) which is supposed to help with shrinkage. The electric model of my dryer has the same feature. The new dryer I am getting doesn't have the shrink guard option though. Interesting on the quieter. In what regard was it quieter? You'd think the tumbling would make the same noise no matter electric or gas. That being said, I think that my current dryer does seem a bit louder than my previous electric dryer. I am not sure if that is due to it being gas or just because it's different brand.
