Today's get-together was a **WONDERFUL** time!!!

I am tired, drove 6 hours today (though the company was absoposilutely worth it!), but I promise pictures will be forthcoming. (tomorrow!)

The company was delightful, and Nita's parents were just so darn sweet. Nita's son was there as well, which was a nice surprise! I thoroughly enjoyed myself (and stuffed myself - oh the FOOD!) and I hope everyone else did as well!

well, here goes!

My adventure started at 8am when I met up with MsMarion in Palm CIty - what a neat lady she is!! We have spoken on the phone several times but this was our first meeting, and I felt comfortable that I'd left my axe and mace at home, lol, she's quite normal and full of fun stories! Which was good, because it was almost a 3 hour drive exactly to the minute.

We started out to the turnpike, and after me going the wrong way (no one that knows me will be surprised by this), we voted and decided that SHE would navigate, lol. Luckily the next exit was less than 5 miles, lol, so we got turned back around and got our act together fairly quickly.

We pulled up to the most beautiful street, with trees canopying (is that a word??) over and a gorgeous breeze blowing, and found Nita's parents' house. First thing Nita did was give us each a BIG hug and it truly felt like I'd known her forever, that's how comfortable she made us feel!

Her mom and dad were just delightful, we found out just what a small world it is when they told me about having several friends living in my area. Pretty neat :->

Gazania had already beaten us there, she and her husband (who is a real gem as well!) are every bit as nice as you'd expect, and then some. So nice that they even waited till we arrived to start on the food :-P I wish we'd had even more time, I really enjoyed hearing some of her stories and felt that I could learn a lot from her.

(she and I both had the same idea at the same time, lol)

There were others that were supposed to join us, but weren't feeling well (hope you're on the mend!!!) and MimiBoo (Barbara) was so thoughtful and sent over a delicious fruit bouquet (which was just the neatest thing, but would have come in second to the pleasure of her company!!!)

We felt that ya'll were all included, as we had food from recipes that several of you have posted: (so you were there in spirit, and in our tummies :-P) Nita made the buffalo chicken dip and artichoke mushroom dip, I brought those "horrible" caramel-covered cheetos, and Marion baked toll-house and snickerdoodle cookies (yum!!) No one liked any of it, as you can tell from the full dishes, even when we were done (snort):

We talked and ate and ate and ate and talked; before I knew it 5 hours had elapsed - I think we all agreed that it felt like we'd known each other forever and yet still could never run out of things to talk about. (though with the 3 biker babes that I was with, we did spend a good while on the subject of their rides and who was the toughest broad, lol) We also agreed that the original poster of the Caramel Cheetos should be the one to accrue all of our collective calories, and there were a few hurt feelings when they had to pry them away from me, but I got over it fairly quickly and learned to share :-P . Yes, we even gossiped about ya'll back here at the table, lol, but it was all good - so if your ears were burning know that you were being complimented!

We decided that if my family was ever going to see me again, we should get back on the road, as my already dicey navigational skills diminish with every 20 point increase in my blood sugars and every hour closer to dusk, so we gathered for one more round of pictures and set back out for home, with promises to do this again next year with more victims, er I mean fellow KTers. With all of the carbs I'd consumed, I could have gotten out and pulled the car the whole way home, but we made it back safely and I was pulling back into my driveway just short of 9pm (we'd stopped and visited with a friend of Marion's that lives in the area for about an hour)

It was such a great time, I really needed the friendship and fellowship that we had. I feel like I've made some life-long friends!

Man what a great time we had yesterday. Everyone arrived within minutes of each other so we could have several hours to chat and laugh. My folks had a wonderful time and My Dad still can't get over how nice everyone was. He especially enjoyed talking with Gazania's husband. My son, Shannon, sat at the table with us and joined in the conversation. There was very little food leftover but we weren't counting calories. We laughed and laughed with each other. It was too bad that Carol and Shequit (MK) were too sick to be able to join us for the afternoon. Too soon everyone had to head for home. Lots of hugs were shared and promises of doing this again next year.

I want to thank April for posting pictures so you all can see how much fun we had. I also want to thank Barbara for the beautiful edible boquet it was soooo good. Would have loved to have had you with us.

My parents also want to thank you all for coming they haven't stopped talking about our day. They have told everyone they talk to about how nice everyone was and that you are all invited back again next year.

Oh I'm soooo glad the arrangement got there! I was worried that it wouldn't have been delivered for some reason. You guys look like you had a wonderful time. I'll certainly try to make the next one!

If you have a KT Gathering in Fla. next year in February I just might join you. It is 3 degree here and it has been snowing today. Florida sounds really good.

Nita, your hugs are the BEST!!! I want to thank *you* for being the mastermind behind the mayhem, lol. It's easy to see that your beautiful spirit is in the genes - from your parents to your son it was evident that you all have it. You'll have to ask your parents to let me know when they're in Hobe Sound next, I'd love to return the favor and have them for lunch or coffee!

And to anyone else interested in coming next year, Please do!!! I'd be more than happy to start a touring business...By then I'll have mastered telling my north from my south and should *almost* have the directions down pat :-P

What happy and pretty faces. It's wonderful you all got to meet up and enjoy each other and the goodies. Thanks for posting the pics. It's great to see folks!

I am so tired tonight but still want to ask for prayers and hugs. The week before we came down, I had four days of extreme pain with an infected tooth which was removed the day before we flew down. Morning of our departure we had 12 inches of snow and had a difficult time getting out. Wait, you have not heard it all.

Got here, happy to be out of the snow belt. Tooth thing really good but get a cough and cold. After two night of not much sleep, go to a doc. He gave me the wonderful codeine cough thing and an antibiotic for the rest. Wake up next morning with my face twice its size. Allergic reaction or drug interaction - I had told the doc down here that I had been off of another antibiotic for only three days. He said not problem. I guess it was. So, off of the new antibiotic (duh!) and onto prednisone and benedryl - I could have done my own diagnose on this one. That was Fri. Sat and Sun were horrible but not nearly as horrible as Monday.

Monday am, hubby comes into family room and does not look good. Tells me there is something not right. I have my hand on the phone to 911 - I know he has had a stroke! The paramedics were here within 15 minutes. 6 of them! I will tell you I was so scared for my DH.

DH spent almost the entire day in ER, doing tests, being observed. The docs and nurses and assistants were wonderful. Finally saw the neurologist at about 5 in the aft. He had seen all of the immediate test results and had confirmed stroke. It was in the lobe which affect speach and fine motor control - a nasty one for an attorney to have. However, no cognitive harm. He has done remarkably well in the last 24 hours and we are confident that he will continue to improve though it will take work. He has already stared with a speach therapist (I love her) and will have therapy for fine motor control. He has no problem with walking - we walked the entire hospital this aft.

so tired tonight - drove home through an amazing storm with close to zero visibility. Amazing to look out the balconey toward Miami at this hour and see the lightning stikes-the entire sky lights up. I am on Marco, BTW and I am going to bed.

Sorry to be late in finding this but the search engine isn't working quite right yet it seems.

MK you have been on my mind everyday. The last time I talked to you you were at the hospital with your husband. I am so sorry you both have been having such a terrible time medically. I am glad to hear that he is improving and is getting help while you are in FL.

Hopefully next year you will be able to come to my folks for a get together. I hope you and your husband will be able to enjoy the month of March in Florida without any further complications.
