Just learned today.........

DS and DIL are having twins due August 17th.! She had her first ultrasound yesterday and there are two heartbeats and two sacs.We knew already that she was pregnant but never dreamed of twins! This is a high risk pregnancy being it is her first at age 35.

Please keep her in your prayers.

Wonderful! My neice had twins Mia and Mariah in December-just in time for Christmas. I saw her three months before and she didn't even look pregnant! Best wishes to your son and DIL. Tell her to stay off her feet.

Somthings in the Air. My Cousin just had her Twins January 31. My Cousin was 40 when she gave birth.

Oakley, I don't think we know what we are going to want or how we are going to feel until the time gets close. My MIL got nervous when I was away. Everyone told me she would ask for me repeatedly. "When is Golddust coming home?" As her needs became greater, she appreciated a female helping her with dressing, toileting and hygiene. Her sons were clueless. They were loving, willing and wonderful - but totally clueless and uncomfortable. I didn't leave her once in her last three weeks. Her sons would do anything at all, including taking the dogs to the vet, so they didn't have to stay with her alone toward the end. Better make good friends with your DIL. I think your DS will delegate your care to her more than you know. My MIL deeply loved me and appreciated me stepping in when she needed help. She didn't think anyone would be there for her. After caring for three elders until their death, I have no fantasies about old age or the rocky path toward death. It isn't usually pretty and I watched my MILs sons look to me for their Mother's care. They even looked to me for the way they should act around her. I told my MIL that her cancer had returned in front of them. (They thought she shouldn't know, rather than tell her themselves.) They supported me to take care of her and I have a lifetime of points in reserve because of the awesome care she got. If you alienate your DIL, you will also alienate your son. He will chose her over you, as it should be. Your best hope is to make your DIL love you. She will be wiping your butt, not your son. Trust me.

* Also, doesnt the Bravos have a soak cycle on it? Yes, it does. You can choose how long you want it to last, according to soil level. And you can let it continue until it's through, or you can Pause the washer and let laundry soak longer. * I thought in the owners manual it said it does, but it will drain and stop after the soak cycle runs. Yes, it does, when the Soak cycle finishes. * I actually wash my work jeans and T shirts on sanitary cycle in my HE3T with soak cycle. The Bravos 850 also has a sanitary cycle. * How hot does the sanitary cycle her in yours, anyone know? I've never taken its temp, but it gets REALLY hot. I think the manual tells how hot it gets. * Its nice of you to remember me Mara, Im not on here much anymore, been working a pile of mandatory overtime all summer long :( but now I can pay cash for the new set when decide on what to get. Me too, gates -- working longer hours. Glad to know you're getting overtime! The increased pay sure does help. It is SO NICE to be able to pay cash for appliances and other big purchases. * One more question..what exactly is the "deep rinse"? DOes it fill more than the wash cycle or just not the spray rinse that is on the bravos. I rarely use the spray rinse, simply because I must use the deep rinse in order to use fabric softener or vinegar (or both). I'm assuming it does use more water than the spray rinse. My dd has used the spray rinse when she's washed her clothes (usually on the Quick Wash, when she's in a hurry for a particular outfit). Her clothes came out fine. I hope this helps! And I hope you get a break from so many hours soon -- after you've paid cash for the new set, of course. ;)

I confronted the contractor this morning about the liens that subs were attempting to place on our house. He told me that he only owed $4,000 for the concrete for the driveway and had promised the concrete company that he would pay this week. This was news to me - I did not know that he had not paid the concrete company. I paid him a check on September 30 for the driveway and obviously he did not pay the concrete company. He flat out denied that he owed anyone else money besides the concrete company. After calling around today, I have found 5 subs that he has not paid (and I have not been able to get hold of the rest yet). One called me back this evening and told me that they are contacting the District Attorney's office tomorrow and are going to proceed with filing criminal charges against him. From what I have gathered today, he owes over $40,000 to subs that I have found out about. Who knows how much else is out there that I have not found yet. I can not go around and pay these bills. I only owe him $4,500 for overages and that is BEFORE deducting the amount for the electrical issues that have to be fixed due to the use of an unlicensed electrician. My husband feels that this is all spinning so out of control that he doesn't even want to bring up the electrical issues at this point. I disagree. I still don't feel that I should have to pay for his dishonesty. We will see where this all ends up. Sounds like the contractor is finally going to get what he is due.

Thanks everyone.I am excited but trying to stay low key.I'll feel much better when she hits about the 7th month with no problems.
I didn't realize there were so many twins here.Guess this is the generation for them.LOL

Congrats to all of you! And prayers for a healthy pregnancy and babies! Twins are such a precious "package." I had just turned 5 yr. old Lauren & Zach for 6 days last week (7 & 9 yr. old siblings were with the other Grandma -- yep, DS & DDIL had 4 kids in less than 5 yrs.) And that "twin thing" is so amazing. From the time they were preemies, and the nurses put them in the same Isolete (that REALLY did help Lauren) to them in their high chairs at 7 mos. passing unwanted food to each other, or sharing what was left of the Cheerios, to just learning to walk and slower, less-coordinated Lauren grabbing a toy from Zach and him chasing after her and wailing, even though he was faster & coulda tackled her, but let her have her moment of triumph -- oh, that twin thing is SOOO special. At 5, they still DO take care of each other. I have 4 single birth kids and these 4 grandkids, and the twin thing continues to be AMAZING. God bless. . . .

Lilliepad-My friend just had twin girls (identical) born Aug 30th. They were 6 weeks early, and stayed in the hospital a week, but otherwise perfectly healthy! 4 10oz & 4 12oz My friend did have to be on bedrest for the last 10 weeks though. They are doing great these days and mom and dad are surviving too!

My cousin had twins boys about 8 years ago and she loved that she had them first as she didn't know any other way!

A lot of places consider 35 to be high risk and multiples are ALWAYS high risk (just to be safe). I'm 33 and they must have asked me 10 times about my age! Makes you feel 80 or something!

Congratulations! Our twins were born Sept. 20. It doesn't seem like that long. DD#2 spent 2 wks. in the hospital in bed and then 2 wks at home in bed. They were born 2 days shy of 37 wks. Just ask me if they're cute and funny!!!

Thanks everyone! This is going to be a "NEW" experience for everyone.LOL There are 2 sets of twins in my family.One of my aunts had twin boys that died at birth and another aunt had a boy and girl more than 60 years ago.I was suppose to be a twin.I don't know how twins are determined,but I always thought they come from the mother's side.I always hoped one of my kids would have twins and both girls always wanted twins but it never happened.
Terri-I don't know why that age is considered high risk either.So many women are having their first babies at that age and older now days.I had my fourth baby at 37,almost 31 years ago (the daddy to these babies) and they didn't treat me any different than when I had the others.LOL DD# 2 had her first at 35 (8 years ago) and she wasn't considered high risk.I dunno,maybe Dr's are just more careful these days.DIL is quite overweight so that could be a factor too.I'm sure all will go well but I'm afraid Grannie and Poppa will be making a lot of trips to NM pretty soon!LOL
