Marble in Master Bath - any regrets?
Comments (6)I cannot give personal experience other than what I was told by the company where we bought our master bath countertop. They sell both marble and granite and my intention was to get marble. They highly advised against marble for a bathroom that gets much use- master bath no, guest bath okay. We, too, are empty nesters. The only condition where their advice would be that marble would be ok in the master is if I could certify that DH never leaves the cap off the toothpaste or the top off the mouthwash. (: Marble can stain too easily; doesn't mean it will, but the risk is too high for them to advise marble in a much used bathroom. The marble I was considering was more expensive than the granite, so their advice was not to the company's benefit financially. We went with a gorgeous granite and will put the marble in our guest bath/powder room....See MoreNervous about Blue Cabinet color
Comments (10)Peggy, Don't be nervous it all sounds wonderful. Just look at this cover! And as for Marble if you love it get. People have a misconception about marble. Marble is as easy to clean as granites. And in some ways it is easier to repair than a Quartz. Children grow up quickly, and children can be taught not to use permanent sharpies on the island. Does Marble stain? Sure but 98% of the stains can be removed with bleach. YES good ole fashioned Bleach. Or peroxide. But not togehter please. Does Marble Etch? You bet but if once every 6-8 years you have it rehoned or polished it will look fantastic. Is marble hard to care for? Marble has been around for 1000s of years. Marble is as easy to care for as most granite or quartz. Some Old GW posts that talk about Marble. Honed marble countertops 3 years later? Photos? Comments (41)We love our single 24"x 10" deep sink! But this is a big move up for us. The old sink was a small "D" shaped 21"x8" single bowl. When my dad first saw my old sink he asked where the other bowl was because it looked like half of a double bowl! My DH is 6'4" and I was concerned that the new sink would bother his back, reaching down and into the sink. He sometimes complained about the reach down in the old sink. The grid in the new sink helps. And we usually have it piled with dirty dishes anyway so there isnt a reach reach down! Haha. We like having the full cookie sheet option. And I have a dishpan I can add if I want to split the space to soak anything....See MoreAnyone regret having wood countertops?
Comments (2)Mine were put in over twenty years ago. They were just not fabricated well I think. Oak. They cracked and were always sticky for some reason no matter how much I cleaned them. I ended up putting contact paper and plastic over them - ugh. But at least I didn't think I was giving my family some horrible disease every time I cooked. We just replaced them with marble and I'm in heaven...See More- 14 years ago
