I have BM Palladian Blue and BM Stratton Blue (next tone on the palette)in my kitchen and adjoining family room. It is not a grayish tone, it is a cool seaglass tone, but it looks fabulous with dark gray (my sofa) and black fabric. The Wythe Blue is not at all dark in my main rooms as I have a lot of windows, but when I tried in a windowless bathroom, it showed too dark. When my son went off to college I re-did his room in burberry colors--Valspar Sandy Shell tan on walls, white trim, burberry imitation plaid roman shades, black chenille duvet, red plush pillows on the bed. Put up 3 black wall shelves from Ikea. He loved it!

I just painted my new master bath Wedgewood Gray and really like it. It's more blue than gray. It looks totally different depending on the light, and I prefer the way it looks with a lot of light. I know all paint colors change with the light, but this seems to be a much more dramatic change than any of other the other colors in my house.

I painted my son's room Wedgewood a couple of years ago. It looks as empty and impersonal as a hotel room because he's never home - that's what happens with college - just you wait!

valinsv - just my opinion, of course, but I don't think a wall color dictates gender in a room - everything else does. The color above would be very feminine with white eyelet curtains and furniture with curvy lines or the oft used white distressed furniture. With the chunky furnishings I have and the charcoal duvet (even though it has other colors), the room reads pretty masculine. I think (again JMHO!) that you can keep a room gender neutral with fairly tailored furniture and details that are neither masculine or feminine but simply nice to look at and 'be' with.

bookgal...please tell me more about Wythe Blue...I'm seriously considering this color for our finished basement, and your comments above are scaring me a little. The seaglass blue/green is exactly what I want. My basement will have very little natural light, but plenty of artifical. Do you have pics of your Wythe Blue?

valinsv - I'm sorry to hijack, I've been staring at the BM strip that has Stratton, Wythe and Palladian on it for weeks trying to pick the right color for my space. I'm anxious to see what you go with.

i did my ds's room in BM Smoke and I love it! I lay in his room and just stare at the color and say "ahh". the pics don't do it justice. my friend is going to use it in her master bedroom, so it is a versatile color.

srg212: Your DS's room looks great in Smoke! It's still on my list as well. I like how the black bed looks next to it. My DS has some black pieces in his room we will be keeping; though the existing furniture is going to be phased out for mahogany pieces.

I keep going back and forth between all three of them and am very curious to see how they look in my DS's small bedroom. I still need to place the order for the bedding--just waiting for an Overstock coupon. Does anyone have a coupon code to share?

We did my son's room in BM Palladian. He's happy because its boyish. I'm happy because it can be girlish when he moves out and the room becomes mine.

After reading your post I had some fun with Ikea and photobucket and created a room that addresses both a relaxing place for your DS and still keeping it neutral for guests. I used your color palette of gray/blue walls, black and white. My BIG suggestion is to paint the bed in a matte black! You could use the black comforter/duvet as planned or white. I think you are on to a very pleasing color palette!The curtains are white with a stripe of black. I threw the silhouette in there for fun, but it would be a great addition to have a big silhouette of your son over the bed.

I was so confident I had made the right choice, but mine looked like a nursery color, pastel, not green, not blue, just a mix. Repainted revere pewter and that's worse.(blah) I'm still searching, maybe wedgewood gray, nantucket fog??
I would love to compare my Pallidian formula to others. Was your paint mixed at BM?? Anyone with a Sherwin formula? Makes me sad mine looked nothing like your beautiful pics. Agree??

Ours was mixed by General Paints. Its a bit bluer than the same colour which we have in the dining room in original BM which is a bit greyer and greener.

Does anyone else see more green in the BM paints? Especially in their tans. Our designer calls them "pickled". Your thoughts please!

Sewwhatsnew: I agree it looks very different in your bathroom. It's interesting to see as I have similar tile in my master bath; however my bathroom is painted in RH Latte. I feel that is not quite right as well and have often thought of repainting it; just not sure what. Good luck with your choice. Perhaps it you start a different thread you will get some recommendations. I'd be interested to see what you end up choosing. Perhaps the oak tones are throwing it off? The other examples all have white trim.

kmcg: That is really neat how you can put together a sample board. Is that from the IKEA website? I'm not sure if you followed my earlier thread about choosing a new bed, but I bought a vintage mahogony pineapple bed. I really don't want to paint it, though I can definitely see black working well and do have some black pieces I'll be integrating into his room. Here are some of my selections so far:

My DS has tried out the lamps which seem to work well for reading/studying in bed as they have a swivel base. I'd be curious to hear what others think.

Sewwhatsnew. I had my Palladian blue mixed in BM Aura Matte for the walls and SW Super Paint Flat for the ceiling. They are virtually the same color.

Here is my small basement Powder room with no windows but lots of lights.
It is called BM Mount Sainte Anne, it is blue in some light and greenish in others.
I like it and thought that it might be nice for your DS/Guest room.

lyban: The Mount Sainte Anne also looks very nice; but seems I did not pull a card for it when I was at BM--even though I pulled almost all the blues grays and greenish colors. I find so many times posters will recommend a color and it's not out in the racks and I need to request it; wonder why that is? Next time I go in I will ask for it, though, as it also looks a good possibility.

DS is resereving judgment until I put the sample boards up as he felt the colors looked different between my computer monitor and the paint chips.

I'm taking DS out this evening to finalize the mattress--there is a Friends and Family additional 10% off sale at Sears and the associate I was working with suggested I'd get a better price then.

bookgal - thank you so much for posting those pics! The Stratton blue in the first pic, I am assuming is the darker of the 2 colors. It is gorgeous!!! I also just bought 3 sample pots of Palladian, Stratton and Wythe! I think Palladian is a little lighter than I want, if Stratton on my walls looks like it does on yours, I will love it!! The Candice Olson basement that is my inspiration, is done in both Stratton and Wythe. So I am really hoping that one of these colors pleases me.

perhaps it is the light bulbs also that are creating the differences in the Palladian blue pictures? I found when I switched from warm to cool fluorescents that the colors brightened up considerably.

We tried BM Palladian in my mom's room and it looked minty?? but is positively gorgeous in the rooms above. To throw another color....we went with SW Rainwashed.
