Let's talk horseraddish for a minute, please

We have purchased root and made our own the last couple of year. Many years ago, my grandfather grew it. My aunt says it should still be growning on the creek bank where he planted it.

1. Would it still look the same as if it was still cultivated? And if so, what should it look like now, and when should it be dug up to use? I know sometime in the fall, but that's it.

2. Would it still be ok to use? She said we could take all we wanted, and even take some to plant here if we wanted. That would be so neat, to have some of my grandfather's plant!

So, if you can answer my questions, can you also post a pic of what it should look like this time of year?

Thanks!

Tami
