I'm BAAAAACK

Hi everyone! We are finally home,for a while anyway. I have missed this place soooo much! Haven't had computer access for 3 months,not a good thing.LOL

We got home Sat. night around 11. I have been fighting an infected tooth for over a month. Was on my third round of antibiotic,which wasn't clearing it up. Called the dentist here before leaving NM and made an appointment for X-rays on Mon. to see if he could pull it. I was miserable the whole trip home and had DH take me to the ER on Sun. to see if they would give me a different antibiotic,which they did.It seemed to be working but the last couple of days there has been a lot of swelling and drainage. I am scheduled to have the tooth pulled next Tues. morning. Hopefully the infection will have cleared enough by then. OK,enough about me.

Babies are doing great,growing like weeds. I can hardly believe they are 6 1/2 months old! They are both in the normal range of growth and development for their age. Rowdy was in his own little "percintile" for a while but he finally caught up. DIL even asked the doctor if he was going to be a midget because he was so tiny.LOL He actually does a lot of things that Jillian isn't doing but I think she is just a little lazy sometimes.LOL

I haven't had a chance yet to catch up on everything but I was excited to see that Steph had her baby girl! She is beautiful!

Grinch-I didn't realize you had a new grand baby.Glad to see that he is doing well.I'll keep him in my prayers.Love his name.

I need to get off the computer for a while but will get back later and see what is going on.Everyone have a great day................Lillie

Welcome back, Rachelellen! You're in my favorite city. We've been gone almost 29 years, but it still feels like home. Go Sox! It's pretty daunting to give YOU of all people recipes -- or, I suppose, just ideas; you probably don't need actual recipes do you? Stovetop only ... I'm thinking of three basics that you can vary endlessly (I doubt you need suggestions, but I've included a few for less experienced cooks who may be reading). 1) Thin-pounded chicken breast cutlets, dipped in seasoned (paprika, salt, & pepper) flour, then sauteed in olive oil. Then remove from pan and add to pan - lemon juice, sherry or white wine, capers - mangoes, mandarin oranges, or peaches, with a little juice - mushroom and wine sauce - palm hearts in a thick port wine or marsala sauce - cranberries and a touch of maple syrup - tomatoes, onions, artichoke hearts, garlic you can go on forever; just use up whatever's in the house 2) Poached salmon. Even people who aren't wild about fish often will eat salmon. Good with a julienned vegetable saute on top and/or all kinds of sauces: chimichurri, tartar, lemon, remoulade ... or break up the fish and use it to top a salad with their favorite yummies in it. 3) Pasta with sauces (you REALLY don't need me to give you ideas for pasta sauces!) And I wouldn't be too afraid of ethnic foods. Just leave the sriracha in the cabinet for this gang. You can stir-fry their favorite ingredients. I think everyone likes dim sum (you can have a spicy dipping sauce for yourself). I bet they'd love the recipes you gave me for Indian vegetable dishes -- we sure did. I do hope the trauma is over and that you and everyone are fine.

Hey guys, glad to see that some of you remember me. It wasn't that long ago, in kitchen years, that I hung out here. We've really enjoyed our kitchen remodel. I cook a lot and it's much nicer to work in a good-looking kitchen than the higgledy-piggledy mess we inherited when we bought this house. Unfortunately the footprint of the kitchen wasn't increased so I'm still struggling with that issue. But I bought a few pieces of free-standing furniture to store things in and that helps a lot. We still have so much to do around here that it's hard not to feel overwhelmed at times. Three bathrooms is a lot but we figured as long as we have contractors in the house we might as well get them all done at once rather than dragging out the pain of remodeling. Also on the punchlist are a tear-down and rebuild of a 1,000 square foot deck and replacing our beat-up driveway. But those projects are a few years out. Sometimes I wonder if the American Dream is some fantasy dreamed up by contractors. But hey, we're doing our part to keep the economy moving. Speaking of which, what did you guys spend your gummint tax refund check on? Ours went to a tree company to remove three large dead/dying/falling down trees on the property. My! My! Have you been gone? You better bet you have been missed!!!!! Things have gotten really slow around here lately and I have to accept my share of the blame. And I can't even blame SPRING....what spring? we are still being rained on daily, but the temp is back in the 60's by day and the 40's by night. When it does clear up for a day or two we also get frost, so no plants yet. Hope your computer problems are fixed and that you share soon! As always your roses are super!!! I really like the tote and how you use a shade on the edges to tie it all together. Very nice. How about posting your Esty link again, can't find where I save it on my computer.....darn! I have been reading where the ArtFire store is really hot, but no personal knowledge about it, just post on other groups. Come back soon! Belle

janjan212 Unfortunately, buying an expensive item without a warrantee is like rolling a dice that the unit will work well enough for a few years. If this is a drop in cooktop, then it is not easily replaced because of the cut out in the countertop. I wish you the best but unlike free standing appliances, built in appliances are much more tricky to buy and sell. What if you donated it to Habitat for Humanity and take the tax deduction. Since you have the receipt, you MAY be able to take the full value deduction. (I don't know the rules... You need ask a tax person.) Depending on your tax tracket, selling it at 1/3 of the original price or taking the full value deduction maybe about equal in "value" to you....

LILLIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! So glad you are back and that you had a wonderful trip. While you were gone, I kept getting messages on IM that you wanted me to authorize you. I did, every time but nothing took. Weird, so not sure if we can connect or not. I upgraded my IM and maybe it won't recognize yours if you havent updated in a while.

We will have to email if nothing else. I sure have missed you. Lots going on around here too. work and kids and pottery. Been making some cool stuff.

Cathy-don't know what was going on with the IM.My grands were on my computer all the time while I was gone.Don't know it they may have done something to cause it.Who knows.I have really missed you too.I was just thinking about you the other day and wishing I could chat with you.
OK I have lots of pictures but I need to download them to my computer and as you all know I am illiterate in that department so it may take some time.LOL I will get some on as soon as possible.
I have been feeling really crappy this week.I ended up going to the doctor Thursday with this abscess.My jaw was swollen about the size of my fist so I thought it was time to do something else because obviously the second antibiotic wasn't working either! LOL He lanced it and drained it and put in a drain tube,gave me an intravenous antibiotic and another antibiotic to take by mouth.I go back tomorrow to take out the drain then I guess we will see if they will be able to pull the tooth Tues. as planned.I'm thinking probably not because there is still a lump under the jaw bone about the size of a very small egg.I think it is maybe a cyst from the infection.I guess we will see tomorrow.Yall pray for me.This is getting old!LOL

Welcome back, Lillie! I'm sorry to hear about that infected tooth.....that is so painful! Hope you get it taken care of and feel much better soon. It was great seeing the pictures of the twins!
