Cabinet Remodel of a kitchen in a 1913 foursquare

We are finally taking the leap to add a much needed bathroom to the first floor. Along with the addition goes a kitchen upgrade. We want to make the new kitchen look like it matches up with our house and also functional. Our only cupboards we have now is a built-in painted pantry type cabinet, which we will keep and relocate near the kitchen as a pantry.

Question is, I love both the shaker/mission cherry finish and also the off- white painted cabinets. We will have to go semi-custom to fit our 9 ft ceilings. Has anyone ever had to make the decision of which type of finish to go with--how does one decide and be happy with the decision. I know a lot of it is personal preference, but I like them both, but don't want a mixture of the two either. The rest of our house has a lot of heavy oak woodwork, ceiling beams, original wood floors, etc. and I don't want to extend the same into the kitchen. Any suggestions, any thing to help make a decision less of a delima. Thanks.
