TheMasterGardener1 Given the description of the situation you mentioned, I would say if there is a problem, it has only to do with the user ID your using (or e-mail you registered with). If it were a moderation issue, it would take effect immediately. If it's not a mistake, the forum owners likely made a change to registration rules. As an example they may have blocked any user ID starting with the word "The," in an attempt to keep people from using their website as a user ID (such as "TheHydroponicsShop"), or it may have something to do with the number "1" at the end of your user ID. I can think of many examples. But the bottom line is I'm 100% sure it has nothing to do with arguing a point, and I'm also 100% sure it has something to do with new registration rules that will take effect on the date given to you, thus somehow affect your forum registration status at that time. The time period is given to make the necessary changes for regular users, and the rest are assumed not regular users (thus blocked, and would need to re-register).

Like Karen, I always like to read every comment on a post--if you don't go back, you might miss some really good stuff. We've seen some of these posts head off on the funniest tangents like talking about "the bus" or "the old lady". And if I've asked a question, it's because I'd really like to know! If a post has gotten pretty old and suddenly pops up again, I may just glance at it to see who posted to it so late, but won't usually comment again, unless it's one of my posts and I need to acknowledge them. I used to try to mention each person's name that had commented on my post, but that is time consuming because I have to keep going back to see each one. So I may just say "thanks gals" or "thank you for all the sweet comments". This is supposed to be fun, so make it easy on yourself--we don't really have "rules". And don't get hurt feelings if you don't get lots of comments either--most of us love to make comments, but sometimes life gets in the way and we might not be able to. Doesn't mean we haven't enjoyed it or that it's not neat--we are just away from the computer, busy with other stuff, or maybe going through a rough time and not in the mood to respond right then. Oh! That explains the sometimes there. :) I've been posting threads hoping to get people talking. :) So the Like part of Facebook then? I can see the utility of having the thank-you for the OP, but that's going to have to grow a whole new etiquette of when it's appropriate to click and when it will hurt someone's feelings not to get a thank-you. I propose that we, at least in Cooking, try to limit it to responses that answer specific questions. Not for attitudinal questions like my recent one about pizza definitions, where all answers are right. Not for every response. Just for the ones that are right on target, and maybe the first one. Like the current question about Nutella filling. I've been thinking it had some similarity to peanut butter, and that there are recipes for peanut butter and cream cake fillings, but if I had posted that, it wouldn't be right on target, even if it were useful in terms of how much cream to use, whereas a T&T recipe for Nutella cream cake filling would be dead on, and for Nutella cream frosting would be sort of on (thank if a good template, not if wrong texture). Otherwise, we'll be thanking each other constantly and losing all meaning.
