SW Blonde for Master ? Decatur Buff, Powell Buff rest of house

I think green paint in my MB will limit me, so I'm going to continue the flow of golden colors I have and like.

Would SW Blonde be a good choice with cherry floors and oak trim/blinds on windows?? Will it be very similar to Powell Buff and Decatur Buff?

I've never tried Decatur but I know that Blonde has more gold in it than Powell Buff.

I tried both of them for my kitchen and went with the Blonde. It looks great with warm woods.

The test splotch looked orange and I almost dismissed it, but was glad that I gave it another go.

I don't post much here anymore, but I agree with parma. When we built our house two years ago, I went with Blonde in the majority of my house, including MBR, and still love it. Most of my furniture is dark wood, and Blonde works very well with it all. Good luck!

Everything is just beautiful Michelle! Thanks for the update on pittsfield buff. After I saw your pics last night and how beautiful and golden it looked, I was going to just pick it on faith. Have it on a large part of my living room wall and today with no sun instead of looking green it looked pinky beige. Just don't understand. I absolutely love your bedding. It reminds me of a waverly pattern of wallpaper I used back in the day when Waverly was what most of the decorators used. Maybe I'm just becoming a nutcase. Started picking out paint because I couldn't choose between three dining room tables. I miss my old house which backed up to a forest preserve and had hundreds of different birds visiting every day during the winter. Now a new house with no trees and a backyard crammed up to a neighbor's house. DH in Florida on business as we in Chicago await yet another winter storm. I copied someone's post that explained how to post pictures so when I get tired of adding patches of color to my walls I'll try to figure it out. Again, thanks and your new home is gorgeous! Michelle

One of my favorite yellow's is SW Ivorie. It's not a bright yellow, instead it's a soft creamy yellow/gold. It has an LRV of 65 so it's light but will still give you color. The color on the strip will look brown ugly gold which is nothing like the real color once on the walls. I recall my reaction when our decorator recommended it and I was like, no way! We then put it on the wall and I loved it so much we used the color in the next house we bought. We also painted our kitchen SW Blonde which is the next color up on the strip and it's also beautiful but is a bit darker (LRV 54).

Ikplatow - That's so nice of you to offer! Thanks! I've heard IKEA is a fun place to hang out. I did think about road tripping it one day but I just looked on mapquest and it's over a three hour drive. ..... For now, I'll focus on painting and the bed. :) I'll probably change my mind a bunch before I settle on curtains. I would hate to get down there and see others that "could work". I'm known to return things and that wouldn't be an option in this case, lol! I really do think it's ridiculous that you can't buy certain things online. I was just at Kirkland's site the other night and was considering ordered wall sconces but NOOOo have to go to the store for them too. That would also be a trip and a half.

Decatur Buff does not look, in real life, like Newhomebuilders' home that shows on the computer screen. I bought a quart sample and tried it in several places in my home. It's definately a brownish color. Sorry you had your whole sunroom painted already. It's not a bad color. It just isn't what shows up on the computer screen.

I have Decatur Buff in my home and absolutely love it. I consider it a biege with gold in it. Very nice!

My paneled doors are all the oak cappucino color, along with trim and three blinds to be ordered as pictured.
How do you feel about Putnam Ivory?? The color you see behind the chair is Powell Buff, someday I'll repaint the whole house Decatur Buff.
So confused AGAIN!! Room is empty waiting for me to decide and paint ASAP !
I don't feel like investing in samples this time!!
Any other suggestions???

i was thinking maybe white dove on the trim and also the wainscoting which is not added yet on this pic. I am also adding a tumbled textured subway tile in neutral cream color above the granite. not sure if white dove on trim and also on wainscoting is too boring with powell buff. thanks

I used Blonde in a west facing room and it looked more orange than I was expecting and I didn't really like it. I have seen photos of it and I did like it, but the lighting may have been different. If you're not in a hurry, you might want to get a Color To Go sample, paint it on a foam board and see how it looks in the room at different times of day.

If you like green, you might consider neutral gray greens. A few suggestions: SW Grassland, Comfort Gray, or Austere Gray. They all look great with warm woods and you can accent them with a lot of different colors - navy blue, burgundy, gold, dark green, beige or even bright colors like turquoise or orange. Comfort Gray is my all time favorite.

If you try the Blonde and it seems too goldish/orange for you, check out SW Ivoire (on the same strip as Blonde, but lighter and less gold) or SW Believable Buff or Whole Wheat.
