SW Blonde for Master ? Decatur Buff, Powell Buff rest of house

I think green paint in my MB will limit me, so I'm going to continue the flow of golden colors I have and like.

Would SW Blonde be a good choice with cherry floors and oak trim/blinds on windows?? Will it be very similar to Powell Buff and Decatur Buff?

I've never tried Decatur but I know that Blonde has more gold in it than Powell Buff.

I tried both of them for my kitchen and went with the Blonde. It looks great with warm woods.

The test splotch looked orange and I almost dismissed it, but was glad that I gave it another go.

I don't post much here anymore, but I agree with parma. When we built our house two years ago, I went with Blonde in the majority of my house, including MBR, and still love it. Most of my furniture is dark wood, and Blonde works very well with it all. Good luck!

Superchick, I could have written this post myself. I cannot begin to tell you how many different paint colors we tried on sample boards, taped to walls, etc., changed and changed again. We were originally going to go with BM Chestertown Buff in our main living area and halls, and it looked so great on the sample chip. But on the walls . . . it was a way too bright yellow for us. We then thought we needed to go more brown and ended up trying BM Gingerbread Man, which was less yellow, but way too orange! I thought we had everything all set to go so the paint lady could get started, and by the time she arrived on site, I was near to tears with complete frustration. She was very helpful, and we ended up going with BM Wilmington Tan, which is one of their historical colors (HC-34). The painter has started with this color, and it looks SO much better than the others. It is a warm beige color, not too yellow, and not too orange. We like that it is warmer than some of the grayer looking beige tones. We are using BM Vanilla Ice Cream for our trim color, and it blends nicely. SW Blonde was another color we were considering, and we are using it in our back hallway. It is golden looking tan on the wall, and I understand about how you might think it looks "icky", but I really think it will look fine once our darker mixed tile flooring is installed. I know many people have raved about this color. Anyway, you may want to check out the Wilmington Tan as an option, by Benjamin Moore, or something like it. It is a little less gold and a little more there than the SW Blonde. By the way, I love BM's cork color as well, but we thought this might be too bright/dark for such a large area of the house. Jan

Our house was a new build in 2007. It was a spec home so we didn't get to pick colors. Colors when we bought it- SW 7036 Accessible Beige on Walls and ceilings throughout Trim-SW 7008 Alabaster Dining room-SW San Antonio Sage Powder Room-SW Rookwood Blue-Green Trim and Wainscotting in Bonus Room-SW Tavern Taupe Hated all of the colors but loved the house. We have redone about 50% of the interior so far using BM Aura matte, but with some SW colors matched in Aura. Dining room is now BM Aura Pomegranate with ceiling in SW Alabaster Powder Room walls/ceiling are Valspar Belle Grove Light Amber (fell in love with this color and it was a one gallon job so I used Valspar paint-it came out pretty good but this is a low traffic room with wainscotting 4 feet up the walls so the walls won't get any hand contact) Kitchen is BM Aura Matte in BM472 Aganthus Green-ceiling remains undecided (still Accessible Beige) Great Room including coffer inserts is BM Aura Matte in BM473 Weekend Getaway Bonus room became a playroom for my 4 year old-walls in SW 6715 Lime Granita-all of the trim was converted to Alabaster from Tavern Taupe. I used Aura Semi-Gloss to get the right coverage. 4 Year old's bedroom is SW 6849 Partytime with 6848 Panache Pink on the ceiling 4 year old's bathroom is SW 6716 Dancing Green with Alabaster on the ceiling Master Bedroom and bath will be SW 7621 Silvermist with Silvermist on the bathroom ceiling and an undetermined lighter shade in the bedroom's tray ceiling ( I sampled a 25% mix of Silvermist but it screamed "It's A BOY!") I'm working on this room now. Still to come is the foyer/stairwell/upper hallway, a bedroom we use as a home office, and the entire finished basement which has a playroom/theater, bedroom, and full bath. I may hire out the foyer and stairwell as opposed to renting scaffolding but I'll be doing the rest myself.

Ikplatow - That's so nice of you to offer! Thanks! I've heard IKEA is a fun place to hang out. I did think about road tripping it one day but I just looked on mapquest and it's over a three hour drive. ..... For now, I'll focus on painting and the bed. :) I'll probably change my mind a bunch before I settle on curtains. I would hate to get down there and see others that "could work". I'm known to return things and that wouldn't be an option in this case, lol! I really do think it's ridiculous that you can't buy certain things online. I was just at Kirkland's site the other night and was considering ordered wall sconces but NOOOo have to go to the store for them too. That would also be a trip and a half.

I have Decatur Buff in my home and absolutely love it. I consider it a biege with gold in it. Very nice!

My paneled doors are all the oak cappucino color, along with trim and three blinds to be ordered as pictured.
How do you feel about Putnam Ivory?? The color you see behind the chair is Powell Buff, someday I'll repaint the whole house Decatur Buff.
So confused AGAIN!! Room is empty waiting for me to decide and paint ASAP !
I don't feel like investing in samples this time!!
Any other suggestions???

i was thinking maybe white dove on the trim and also the wainscoting which is not added yet on this pic. I am also adding a tumbled textured subway tile in neutral cream color above the granite. not sure if white dove on trim and also on wainscoting is too boring with powell buff. thanks

I used Blonde in a west facing room and it looked more orange than I was expecting and I didn't really like it. I have seen photos of it and I did like it, but the lighting may have been different. If you're not in a hurry, you might want to get a Color To Go sample, paint it on a foam board and see how it looks in the room at different times of day.

If you like green, you might consider neutral gray greens. A few suggestions: SW Grassland, Comfort Gray, or Austere Gray. They all look great with warm woods and you can accent them with a lot of different colors - navy blue, burgundy, gold, dark green, beige or even bright colors like turquoise or orange. Comfort Gray is my all time favorite.

If you try the Blonde and it seems too goldish/orange for you, check out SW Ivoire (on the same strip as Blonde, but lighter and less gold) or SW Believable Buff or Whole Wheat.
