This post has made me cry with heartbreak for each of you.

Thank you. He accepted it months ago and didn't want to have any treatments, then the doctors and of course family encouraged him to fight it. I think somehow he knew back then with the first stoke. He hadn't felt good for many months prior to that one. He is being very brave for a young 25 year old and I am so proud of him. I'm not so sure I'd be as brave as he is right now. Hospice is teaching his parents how to administer his morphine to keep him comfortable. I just hope he goes peacefully and pain free.

I'm glad he is home and not in a hospital. At least he can have some peace without being poked and prodding all the time. Prayers for him and all your family.

Your nephew is indeed a very courageous young man. Kudos to his bride-to-be as well. My earnest hope is that his wedding wish is fulfilled and that his passing is as peaceful and pain-free as possible. Sending up prayers for the entire family.

I am truly sorry for your nephew's state of health. A second stroke is not good, and by your report, he is battling terminal cancer.

I am wondering why he wants to get married with so little time left. I can understand the emotion driving this want, but I think they should both stop and conisder what legal ramifications the marriage knot will create for the remaining mate.

I know nothing about his finances or his estate value. Consider this: The marriage could pass all his bills to the surviving spouse. On the other hand, his estate will pass to his mate. But state laws vary on these matters. I suggest that they both consult lawyer. They both should write (or re-write) their wills to put to rest how the estate will be settled should he pass on soon.

Many years ago, a similar case happened in my state. The wife was espected to die soon. They wrote their wills and left eveything to him. What happened? She got better and he died unexpectedly - AND the will kicked in. The dead mate owned everything and she had nothing, not even the house. Initially, the probate judge was bound by law to uphold the terms of the will and could not change it. It took awhile to unravel this mess and it was not reported how it turned out. However, in the intrim, she was destitute. So, be very careful how the wills are worded. The language should provide for either spouse's passing.

it is my thought that your nephew's passing would be less complicated if they did not marry at this juncture. However, if this is something they both want, consider the wills.

My heart is breaking. I can understand why they both want to get married.

Perhaps they can exchange rings and say their own vows. The medical bill vulchers will come. Let him do a will. He can sign over whatever he wants to now. Laws just seem so unfair when a person passes so beat them to it.
I know of no words that can make your pain any less. I know so many are reaching out wanting to be there for you. If I learned anything while watching my sister die of cancer, it was to be thankful for the time we had and hold the time left as a precious gift. Making an effort not to be angry as it was so unfair. Making certain she knew how much she meant to me.
I do pray he is in less pain and when the time comes, he has no pain. Bless you

Thanks again for all of your prayers. I got a phone call from my neice right after the wedding was over and she said Alan did well, he was able to sit up for awhile and was sleeping then. She said he was so happy to be able to be awake and strong enough to attend his own wedding! I guess he was worried about staying awake for it.....so he's a married man now, something he's wanted for a few years now.

My sympathy in this situation. That's wonderful he will get his last wish to be married. Bless him and his fiancee'. Blessings be on your family as well. I know you don't know me, but here's a hug anyway. ((()))

I'm sure he was proud he could do this. Just so hard when life throws sadness at us. I hope this helps keep his spirits up and is at least comfortable.

My prayer has been said for a quick, peaceful, painfree passing for Alan and for comfort for the family. I too am concerned about the legal ramifications of this marriage. I sure hope wills were made out. I fear that his new young wife will be burdened with all the medical bills.

I asked about that too....he's fully covered on medi-cal now and she will have no lingering medical debts they say...I hope they are right. As far as a will, he really has nothing to leave behind. He gave his truck to his sister, that was important to him that she get something that mattered to him. She just turned 17 and is really having a tough time with all of this. They are very close. He has no bills or huge bank account, so nothing really to will to anyone.

Sending peaceful thoughts your family's way. I am sorry about your newphew. I am glad he is getting to marry his girlfriend. I hope he is comfortable.
