I've decided to retire. I've been working for almost 45 years. I'm moving to a larger house, and we want to travel. No more time for work, so I decided last week to pack it in.

I feel so free.

lol... not to hijack this thread, but while I'll agree basketball takes more athleticicm, baseball takes more intelligence of the game and hand eye-coordination. I can hit three point shots all day and dunked when I was in highschool but put me in the cage against a 90 mph heater, even if I know it's coming I can't touch it. Another couple of notes: Dan seems to 'get the most' out of everything he plants. The blue iris against the yellow-gold leaves of A.Shir. 'Auream'. The blinding colors of A. pal. Beni Schischihenge. It's all just really amazing.

Well I was not so sure I believed this would work. I was in pain for over 2 weeks. The dr. said he did not know what to do . Someone on this forum said something about putting a bar of soap in your pillowcase next to your leg ( I put mine in a pillow sham, won't slip out that way.) I am here to tell all that I am a believer. I was just told I have diabetes, last week. So I was worried about having permanet damage to my legs. I have told everyone at work about it yesterday, so we will see. I work in a child center and am on my feet all day, but everyone could not believe the pain I was in Monday and then the difference it made in me in two days...I can go play baseball with my grandboys now!!!!

Good for you. Sorry to say, our LG had to go after 1 week as it was way too noisy! We changed to an Kenmore elite & for the first load it was really quiet. I hope to never have to report on it again unless its positive news. Good luck to you, our GE's always lasted a long time.

Free at last! (Update from My 18 year old SS is ruining my....)

Stepup: The normal human tendency is to blame someone else for our misfortune. If it is not about the rain, then it is about the sun. I am sure I have been there before, perhaps you have too. Enlightment and the path to happiness are when we realize that we can only control what we have control and let go of what we don't. Your SS is trying to set you up in triangulation between his father, you and him. The best is to avoid that situation. Just let your H deal with his own son in terms of discipline and such. But destruction of your property should not be tolerated and dealt w by the police. I hope your SS will only be invited back for a thanksgiving meal or christmad but that is about it. He should not be welcomed back to live.

Congratulations Monica. I'm very happy for you. I retired less than two months ago. Some people told me there would be a period of adjustment to go through, but that's just not so. I have had to remind myself that I don't have to be in such a rush all the time, but I'm getting better at doing that.

It sounds like you have such a fun life ahead of you. Enjoy every minute of it.

What's great about retirement? - Avoiding rush hour traffic on the way to and from work. This has been a great stress reliever for me. I hadn't realized just how much road rage and uncouth drivers were affecting me. Now, I enjoy getting up whenever I wish, have a leisure breakfast, and go to the grocery store mid-mornings.

I do worry about having enough money, but there are many other gratifying benefits that are increasing my life span and enjoyment if from stress reduction alone. We can now travel in off-seasons and have no problem getting good bargains on motel rooms. The downside is that many of seasonaly attractions may be closed for the season, but that has not been much of a problem since we don't frequent most of those anyway. We go for other things like photographing scenery and genealogical searches.
