How about half the wall with bead board and half with the lighter pink color in the comforter. I love that bedding for a 2 year old. I feel children should have fun happy bedrooms. I love the headboard also.

Is that a green tone I'm seeing? I'd do a light green, it's pretty soothing for kids...and the last thing you want is a hyped up 2 year old!

okay - lynn and pesky just hit the two thoughts I had! The bedding is darling - there is a lot you can do with it to make a great grow with her space.

Ditto on echoing the pale green/blue/aqua or whatever the complementary color is that is in the bedding (the picture's too small to really see). Lighten it if needed to keep it from being too overwhelmingly colorful for your DH; probably the lightest shade on the strip will be fine with everyone. Deeper shades of that same color, along with white, would be great for accessories. More pink would be a bit twee, IMO, and I think the impact of the pink bedding would be minimized without that contrast. After all, some designer went to a lot of trouble to put that colorway together for you, you might as well use it!

My DD is 4 1/2. When we did her nursery, I used all sorts of pastels with a garden theme, very litte pink because I didn't want her to be a pink freak. Well, she announced last year that she was tired of the room and wanted pink! LOL Her room is about the color of the one in the last photo. She LOVES it. We painted all of her furniture white and she uses the brighter pink and lavendar mostly for accent colors. She does have this Disney Princess playmat type rug that has all the pastels in it that really pulls things together but if you ask her, she needs more PINK...anything pink and filly or sparkley. It's a little different than what I liked as a kid and totally different from what I like now (I'm into Prim country with the dark colors like black, navy, barn red, hunter green, mustard, tan. So her room is like a whole new world in our house) but DD LOVES it. Some day she'll tire of it but to see her face and listen to her tell each and every guest that they have to see her BEAUTIFULY bedroom, it's worth it!

Personally I would do a green or aqua, pulled from the bedding. But those really make the pink stronger in the room, because they are complimentary colors. Softer pink walls will make the bedding blend in a bit more, and tone down the strong pink a bit.

It appears the set doesn't come with a bedskirt. Might be fun, if you go with the green or aqua, to add a bedskirt in that color, and a throw pillow or bolster up on the bed, to pull the look together.

Have fun - it is great when they love their rooms.

Oh, and I think the effect of color is a very individual one. Both my boys had a strong yellow on the walls when they were little, and primary colors in their bedding (balloons for the crib, blue, red and yellow plaid as they got older) and they were not hyper, never had a problem sleeping, never got up in the middle of the night, and took naps just fine. Do what you think fits with your wonderful kid!

Thanks for your ideas. Squirrelheaven, I love to be able to look at the colors on the walls! Thank you for taking the time to do that! She will have a twin sized bed and I am making an upholstered headboard with an embroidered monogram on it. Her room is smallish, and I don't want to overpower it, but the bedding will be the main burst of color. Her furniture is white with bright pink trim.

I like the pale blue or aqua and agree with the lightest color on the strip idea. The rest of our house is very earthy--brown, green, rust, brick--with neutral walls, so her room will be a shock, but I think she will love it.

Les, my daughter has neutral now and she doesn't sleep, is hyper (to be nice, we call it "spirited"), gets up in the middle of the night, etc. I can't blame it on her room--it's just her! The bedding definitely feels like her to me. My younger daughter has the opposite temperament and I see her as a more "shabby chic" girl--cabbage rose prints, soft colors and textures, soothing.

I just ordered the bedding after watching it for a while and I hope I love it in person, but suspect I will. It has the look I was hoping for without the price. It doesn't come with a bedskirt, so after I get it all put together, I'll decide on a color for that. It comes with the sheet set, quilt and sham, for--get this--$59.99!!--from smartbargains.com.
