Hi Nikki. I did all pulls in my kitchen also. I don't like the look of two small pulls on wide drawers so I looked for pulls that came in multiple sizes including an 8". I aimed to size pulls on various drawer stacks following the rule of thirds or the Golden Mean, roughly translated into the pull covering the middle third of the drawer front with one-third of the drawer visible on each side of the pull. After my pull order arrived, I walked around with the various sizes and held them up on my cabs to see what looked best. I ordered a couple dozen extra of each size pull to give myself flexibility. So I ended up with this: Drawers 30-38" wide stacks have 8" pulls 18-24" stacks have 6" pulls 17" drawers have 4" pulls Cabs (very few) all pulls are horizontal on cabs 11" doors have 4" pulls 15" doors have 6" pulls

Whatever size pull you are using on your cabinets, use for your dishwasher. As the hardware guy told me, people panel their dishwasher to hide it, don't stick a big handle on it. Only reason I could see to make it larger was if you wanted to use it as a towel bar. Our pulls are 4".

Terri, I have a head cold so my thinking is not 100% clear today. :-) I'm going to hopefully answer your question and not be confusing. (I'm not sure of my chances with this!) If you are talking about combining drawer fronts (regardless of whether or not they are 18" or 36") then it would look like the first picture in this post (but wider if 36"). That would involve connecting the drawer fronts with this Ikea part: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20277436/ I don't see any reason you couldn't combine the drawer fronts and drill hinge holes to make the combined drawer fronts in to doors. We used custom fronts in our Ikea kitchen, but we were able to drill the hinge holes ourselves in a few cover panels and it was not difficult. The important thing would be to make sure you put the connectors in a place that don't conflict with the hinge holes. (Probably moving them in a little bit. Or, a possibly much simpler solution would be to buy 2 18"x20" doors and two 18" by 10" drawer fronts. You could attach the 10" tall drawer fronts permanently to the sink base, so they don't move.It shouldn't interfere much with the access to cabinet, since the sink will be taking up the top of the cabinet. Then you could attach the two 18"x20" tall doors as regular doors with hinges and you could put the handle anywhere and even use the cup pulls and make them look like drawers if you want. Maybe you don't mind the idea of pull outs under the sink. But if you are not putting your trash there, it seems like the pull outs are more inconvenient for under sink access. I personally like having the doors there. I don't think hacking the cabinet/fronts in either of these ways would be too difficult. So if you think doors would be better, you can make it work. At the very least I would consider whether you want to do a 36" pull out versus 2 18". The really wide pull outs felt really awkward to me at the Ikea store. If you do 18" pull outs you can add a small piece of wood at the bottom to make that happen as is demonstrated in some of pippabean's links.

tsjmjh I am going to have to get someone to put the pulls on and I had figured out that they had to go on prior to the panel being installed. I guess I don't know where the little bit of space is for the screws until I get my appliances. I was thinking they need to be countersunk so the panel can be flat against the dw. Do all dishwashers have a space for the screws? My appliance installer said they would put the panels on for me but they will not put the pulls on the panels. So I need to get someone to do that. I don't have a cabinet person because I already had the cabinets and got the panels for the dish drawers to match the cabinets. I live in a very old house and I was installing a custom range hood to house venting over my new stove. My house has never had a vent over the stove at all but I am getting a dual fuel stove and figured with the higher BTU output of the burners I needed to get ventilation. So this is sort of an upgrade to my kitchen mostly surrounding appliances and what goes with them. It has been quite a process because of all the things you don't see that cost money (new Electrical Panel, different plugs, moving the gas line over 6 inches, etc). But it is almost complete. nidnay I think my panels should be fine. They were sprayed with an oil based paint and so I am not going to worry about doing anything more to them. But I do need to figure out how to get the pulls on there correctly so the panel will fit flush. I took your advice and got the regular pulls to match my other drawer pulls and they are 8 inches center to center. I think that is plenty big plus since I need two of them I wasn't going to spend several hundred dollars on the "appliance pulls" if the others will work just fine. You have been in on this from the beginning. I am almost done. I will post before and after photo once I am finished. I have had many frustrations along the way and every time I think it is almost at the end something will happen. Like the last 2 times the AC guy was supposed to come and cut a hole in my roof for the ducting, we had a downpour of rain so it had to be delayed. Plus the usual issues with people not showing up when they are supposed to, paint not matching, me having to supervise because the person who is supposed to is nowhere to be found, etc. But I can see the end now.
