I have the arrangement down now for the most part, however I would love to have a final vote on the mirrors, please vote:

A.) Keep 6 mirrors and leave as is.

B.) Redo with 3 mirrors to get rid of weight.

C.) Forget the mirrors, and do artwork.

I have warmed up to the 6 mirrors the way you have decorated around them but I vote C, I still think you need some color.

Keep the mirrors where they are. Build texture, height and color into the room. It looks great so far!

I like the mirrors, too. I am still wondering what's going on at the window area. Can you get a shot of the whole room again? I'd still love to see your occasional chairs there and a comfy chair with the sofa, if there's room.

Regarding the window area, I actually have 4 of those yellow chairs... so I could still have 2 in the window... but maybe that's overkill.

I have another option for the chairs opposite the couch - but I wondered if they are too heavy. I have two of them. They are a sage green.

Regarding the window, I added a yellow table and lamp... and the yellow chairs again.

Trying to use what I have - but maybe need to get some new chairs for either next to couch or in window.

A. I like the mirrors. I think you can add artwork elsewhere in the room.

I love the coffee table now - thanks for trying my suggestion (and for the C&B). I also like the artwork on top of the armoire, but can you add one piece of pottery to the top - about 3/4 as high as the larger picture. I would remove the glass candlesticks. imo, they are not heavy enough (or right) for your room....which is looking wonderful!

I would also remove the sunburst mirror, and add artwork to that corner/wall. Since you moved the chairs closer, what is on that wall now?

Add a few small books to the table on the right side of sofa. Maybe put the small artwork from top of armoire on stand and have it there also.

You need to connect everything in the room. By adding pottery to the top of the armoire, it connects with the pottery/coffee table, which is already connected to the pottery lamp.

All your surfaces in the room are hard. Bring in some things to soften - house plants, wicker (magazine holder - can put books in it instead of magazine). Just scrolled back up - the wicker tote that was on top of armoire earlier would make a great basket on the floor by floor lamp. Add a wicker basket (closet top, like chest) underneath the table on the right. Add small plant to coffee table top and a couple near the bay window.

Not caring for the table that's there. Try the demilune with a lamp. Maybe a shot of the rounded lamp you have on the other table, too.

I much prefer a heavier, comfy chair with your sofa. I guess it's hard to take a more distant shot to get the whole picture. The chair does look a bit heavy in color. Maybe breaking it up with a patterned pillow would be enough.

You posted while I was posting - the smaller chairs work better near the sofa. Put one or two of the large chairs in the bay window area. Probably only one, with a small side table and a potted plant.

Small chest would work well under artwork on wall (where sunburst mirror was hanging).

I think that the three mirror combo would be better - the six still feels way too heavy to me. I think one thing that I keep feeling is that the room is off balance. The one side, with the armoire, couch, table, rug and all the mirrors is not only wider, but feels way heavier, compared to the other side with the more delicate chairs and small table, and light color blinds.

I do the like the green chairs you have added very much.

One question - what is in the armoire? Is it a tv holder, or just a cabinet? Just wondering if the seating needs to be able to see a tv? Let's assume it is just a cabinet, and not worry about the wall decor for now.

What would happen if you were to turn the rug so that it ran longways across the room, to connect the seating areas and balance the space?

Keep the two yellow chairs in the window, and use the round lamp that is currently on the end table by the couch to compliment the shape of the window and the curve of the chairs. I would like to see a lower table there, but the cabinet is okay, and better than the demilune.

Move the armoire to the right of the couch, angled in the corner by the entry.

Use the two green chairs on either side of the couch, facing each other for the most part, just angled a bit toward the window. Move the end table down to the other end of the couch and use the arts and crafts lamp there. The floor lamp can be on the end of the couch by the angled armoire.

I would move the mirrors to the wall where the armoire was, running in two vertical lines of three. Then get some artwork with some color for over the couch.

A floor plant in the entry corner opposite the armoire would be nice, something taller and full. If you find a different table for in the window space, that small cabinet could go on the wall to the right of the window, right below the artwork that is already there.

The mirrors look great in the new setting, as does the art on the armoire.

I'm always for adding live plants somewhere , maybe where the floor lamp (which looks much better in its new home) used to be, or on the table in front of the window.

Sorry, Les, but I disagree. if she moves the larger upholstered chair to the window (only 1, 2 is too many for the space), adds a potted plant and small table (another floor lamp would be nice too, smaller in scale than the existing one) and moves the cabinet under the artwork (like we both suggested) the room will become more balanced. Once she fills in with artwork, etc on the left side of the room - including something in the space katty corner from the armoire) it will be fine. A grandfather clock would be a good addition to that corner. Won't be too heavy and the height would be nice.

I'm pretty much agreeing with Allison's suggestions. Great room and I also like the SIX mirrors. I would at least live with them for a while and see how you feel about them in a few weeks. One other suggestion I would make is for a darker throw on the sofa. Maybe even bring in some type print or mixture of colors.

I am liking your room so much better. Love the heavier chairs. I would put a game table in the window area with two smaller chairs. If you keep the six mirrors you need to beef up everything else in the room. No small stuff. Think heavy. I know you don't want to hear it but I would still paint the room a little darker. It would add soooo much warmth. Like I said you have beautiful things to work with and you are doing so well. One more thing I would like for you to do. Set on the sofa and see if you feel like the mirrors are going to fall on you, if you do, its too heavy, use only three. You have done GREAT!

I love the changes you made with the armorie, but don't care for the heavy look of the mirrors above the sofa. I'd hold out for a painting and maybe hang 3 of the mirrors together, vertically, somewhere else.

I am with Allison as well :) Your room is coming along very nicely. I think the SIX mirrors look better than the 3 would. Using the larger chair next to window will balance the room nicely as well and the color will be better off there too.

I like the 6 mirrors over the couch. I also like the heavier chair but maybe you could try it on the other side of the couch so that it's angled & facing the armoire? I like the demuline table at the window with the yellow chairs on either side. You are doing a wonderful job! I have always helped my sister by walking around her house and taking furniture from other rooms to use in her LR or FR. Just a thought...

I am so appreciative of all your suggestions! My brain is mulling over all the views on the mirrors. I think I'll live with it for a week and see how I feel.

In the meantime, I decided the green chairs were too big for anywhere in that room (they sit back far), I brought in another side table option, a big hanging antique, bought a plant, and did a few other things by the window. I don't think that side of the room is working...

I really have nothing much to offer, but have been enjoying this thread and all of the clever and helpful ideas that have been so generously offered. It has been so fun to watch your room evolve into such a pretty space. I like the 3 mirrors, and the end tables with lighting. One thought, though I don't know if it would work: someone way back in the beginning of the thread mentioned putting leather covered chairs at the ends of your dining table. My question? Would the two chairs in your LR work at the head and foot of your dining table? I can't tell if they are scaled for hostess chairs or not, but they might give the look that les (?) was thinking of. I think that they are lovely chairs (and you said you had more of them, I think). Keep up the great work...your room looks beautiful.

About the dining room chairs- funny, I had purchased 8 of them for the dining room a few months ago - almost replicas of the ones suggested! However, after thinking of all I needed to get, I thought I needed to save my money for other things. Plus, my parents gave them to me and I was leary of separating the set. I'll try the two at the end as you suggest to tie in the 2 rooms.

I really like how the general seating area is shaping out. I think the leather chairs are nice close to the table. The problem with the other side of the room for me is that it lacks purpose and hence is very hard to make look right.

With out being in the room, it is hard to tell, I would love to see how the green chair actually looked in the bowed window part. The new chair you have there doe not work for me by color nor scale.
The empty corner with the wall box does not work for me for the same reason, there is no purpose to it, or at least not obvious purpose to me.

But as I said, the main area is improving every time I see it and your men are just precious :)

I'm jealous! I have been eyeing those mirrors at C&B for a good while now for my MBR. Love them! I also like all six of them. The things on top of the armoire have balanced the mirrors. With everything you have added, it is really warming up the room. Can two of those yellow chairs be used at either end of your dining table? They might look nice as host and hostess chairs. I prefer the chair you have replaced them with in the window. Also love the dog print, but would rather see the smaller table you have in the window under the dog print. I think the yellow chest is a tad to high for the dog print unless you kept the chest there and put the starburst mirror ove it. You have some beautiful pieces and a lot of options. Your home seems very warm :)

Did you try the green chair in the window and not like it? I agree with Lilly, the arm chair is not the right scale. I also wouldn't put a table (or whatever) directly in the center of the window. It distracts from the window, imo.

I have a few more suggestions. Move the lamp about 3-4 inches closer to the books/plant. Don't overhang the plant/books by much - whatever looks good to your eye. Make them connect...and help your violet bloom. Right now they are spread out....and the shade is at the edge of the table. You don't want it there. Too lined up. Does that make sense?

I think the tall cabinet/case should be on the wall next to it, facing into the room. Then work on finding a table to go under it for that corner.

Now don't scream, but how does the "game table" in the bay window compare in dimensions to the table right of sofa? Would it work there with one or both sides raised? If so, I would move the table right of sofa on the wall I suggested you move cabinet/case to. I can't tell in the photo how big that game table is/would be. That would also take a tad of weight off the sofa wall/armoire corner and shift to the other side of room. (Adding that green chair in the bay would help too. ;) )

I just realized the game table was next to sofa. No wonder I didn't realize it had a base....It didn't! lol Why did you move? Try what I suggested above. I think you'll like it better. If you don't want to put more holes in the wall right now, at least move the rest. (I'm having fun, are you?!)

I could also put that demilune under the cabinet you suggest moving... (not currently in configuration)

About the green chair - too big everywhere... plus they have a great home in my MBR in front of our fireplace, so I thought I'd leave that alone since it wasn't working.

Thinking about the window area. The window corner near the hall would seem to be a good spot for a comfy reading chair. Maybe something like this would work? Reading/converse nook for two at the window and converse area around the sofa with the smaller chairs? The two chairs in front of the sofa seem like they're obstructing traffic through the room.

I realize the measurements and doors are off! lol

Wow - cool program with the floor plan. So I moved one of the side chairs to a different angle, and it looks pretty good. My problem is that none of my chairs would work in that configuration at the window. I like the idea of a reading nook in that corner. Or, like Allison said, moving the hanging cabinet with table to fill the space. But then my window is still bare...

You might just try fitting the green chair into the corner, then a round table (any, but I had a large-ish one in mind), and the smaller arm chair into that area, just to see if it would even work. See how it feels, generally, even though the sizes might be off, and to see if the traffic path is any better. Maybe down the road, you could create a reading nook.

Wow - that first picture reposted by Allison looks like a magazine shot. I really like the rust accent color brought in with the pillows. I like the yellow chairs opposite the couch better than the larger green chair, and you have to keep the mirrors!

Even if the green chair belongs in the MBR, you can see if something that size would work or not. If you get the majority of the room as you'd like it, then filling in is the fun part. Nothing happens overnight. I've been in our home 4 years and only recently got the great room as I wanted.

Yes, I like the game table next to the sofa better. Totally forgot about the demilune table! Did you put it on the outside wall, or move the cabinet? I think it will be too large for the smaller/outside wall. By placing it on the inside/longer wall, it will draw your eyes through the room.

I was going to suggest what squirrel drew up for you - pulling one chair towards the table, so that traffic flow is not interrupted - if you wanted to keep the green chair in the bay. I really think a chair with small table in the bay is the way to go..putting the chair where the camel leather chair is in the second picture you posted in your OP. Angle towards entering the room, not toward the sofa.

I had 5 bay windows in our last home. Great feature for any room.

Hi. I just wanted to jump in and say I really like your room. I've been eyeing those mirrors myself! Just a quick question. What type of hardwood floors do you have and what is the stain color? Also how high are your ceilings? We are looking to redo my first floor and your color scheme is close to what we have been looking for.

I like your mirrors, but there is something about them that makes me feel unfomfortable - I think that they are too close to the sofa. (and I usually advocate for hanging art lower). I would move them up about 3 - 4 inches.

The 6 mirrors are visually heavier than the couch - can you move some of them to another place in the room? Swap mirrors with the larger (but visually lighter) prints in the DR?

It's overwhelmingly beige ... couch, rug, walls are all shades of beige. I'd do something dramatic with color on one or more walls, or some artwork or a fabric throw. Something larger and more obvious than a couple of timid sofa pillows. But then I'm one who has painted ceilings Chinese red, huge vaulted walls a dark chocolate gloss, and has 4 shades of paint in her LR at the moment ... maybe you like calm beige.

Sorry, dh, but I'd like to see those mirrors breath, also.

Squirrel that is amazing just how much of a difference it makes to let them breathe.

Squirrel Heaven- that makes a big difference. It's so much better that way! Wow. And thank you ALL for everything you have done to make my room SO much better.

However, I'm afraid I might be losing the mirror battle... In addition to many of the posters not liking it, now my mom and dad are now giving it the "no" vote! They think its just too much.... and prefer a simpler, modern work of art. I'll still make the decision, but the fact that its so questionable is making me leary - especially given the cost of them...

I think I will eventually paint the color of the room a different color, however I'm going to keep it for now. I kind of like it and think I can try to bring in some better pillows, throws, and artwork.

So, the paint color is Kilm Beige (sherman williams), our floors took some effort and are a combination of half chestnut, half medium brown.... and another coat of 50% dilluted medium brown.

My hubby is in pain thinking of fixing the walls if we lose the mirrors, but I guess that is how it goes sometimes!

I am really sorry to hear that, as I thought you had something really special going there. If YOU do not like it, I understand perfectly but as long as YOU like it, I really would keep the mirrors and maybe just move them out a little like Squirrel photoshopped it.

I think it makes your room unique too. Maybe some art can go off to the sides of the sofa?

What do you think? Does it seem to overwhelm the room? I'd think the shutters on the other side would balance it out a bit. And once you get something going on with the window side of the room. To me the unit itself feels kind of claustrophic because they are so close together.

Think about the reflections, too. Maybe something about that feels off?

I originally didn't care for the mirrors, but with the changes you made from everyone's suggestions, I think your room became something really great. But, I also understand not wanting to spend $600 on something you don't love and are just making work. You could buy a great piece of original artwork with that money, and get more of the contemporary style you're looking for.

No update yet! I still have the mirrors up. My parents are flying to town tonight so I'm interested in hearing their opinion after seeing it in person...

Meanwhile, I have been speaking with an artist who we discovered in Santa Fe who, if I decide, could paint something in our colors.
