Quality of Restoration Hardware
Comments (3)I would go with O&M. O&M & Durham are essentially the same company. As reported in Furniture Today: Durham Furniture's new line is targeting shoppers who are "young or young at heart," according to Ron Fuhrman, vice president of marketing and product development. The company is offering a new brand, Orville & Mead, in solid-wood construction, built in North America. The launch includes six lines using traditional woods like maple, cherry and ash, with 12 to 16 SKUs in each group. The quality and price points are in line with Durham's typical offerings, Fuhrman said. Two of the groups are crossover collections from Durham's current line, where the finish and hardware are changed, but the other four are distinctive new looks, he said. The offerings are targeted to a different consumer and a different retail distribution network so that stores who hadn't carried or could not get the Durham line can now look at these alternatives. The line, named after Orville Mead, Durham's president and CEO from 1992 to 2002, is handled by the same sales representatives, but will have a different catalog, point-of-purchase materials and consumer Web site. In three months, Fuhrman said Orville & Mead also will have a retailer site where stores can view an online image library. I would go with the O&M as it is very very similar to the Camden bed and you know you are getting solid wood furniture that is NOT made overseas. Comments (1)I recently bought the RH quatrefoil iron bed. It looked good online but when it was delivered and I got a good look at it, it was very cheaply made in China junk that was almost $1000 on sale with shipping. The welds were done very poorly and some of the ornamentation was made poorly. I was so disappointed but sat with it for a few weeks and then made a decision to return it. I wrote them a very nice email explaining this was my first purchase from them and how disappointed in the poor quality and I didn't think their company was selling junk made in China. I should have known better when the movers dropped it off, they told me they had to assemble it ahead of time to make sure it fit together right because sometimes they don't. Not only did RH give me my money back plus the shipping cost but also gave me a $100 gift card towards a store purchase. quatrefoil bed...See MoreConsidering Maddox Sofa from Restoration Hardware-Quality Advice?
Comments (11)I had the Maddox for around 2 years before I got married and moved in with my wife. I thought the quality was solid. I had the 7' blue vintage velvet sofa with down-filled pillows. I work in NYC as an architect and think the architects who designed the Maddox (Marmol Radziner) are exceptional designers. (http://www.marmolradzinerfurniture.com/vienna-way-collection/vienna-way-sofa). The seat cushions were firm and @Kyle Qiao is right - it could double as a nice backup bed. We have the cloud sofa now and I'm not as big of a fan as it loses its shape quickly....See MoreQuality of Restoration Hardware dining tables? Want 13-14' table
Comments (21)We have a RH DR table and I really like it. It has a simple design and a really cool leaf that folds under the table. Ours seats about 6 but they make this model in longer lengths, see link below. I really like it BUT the big (bad) surprise is that the wood is unfinished. Completely unfinished, meaning if you splash a little oil & vinegar dressing on the table it would stain, because the wood is naturally porous and thirsty. We did some research and then I applied a suggested matte varnish. I regret this and wish I had put on a low-luster oil finish instead. Glass would also work and one can easily get glass to fit almost any rectangular shape ( GlassTopsDirect.com, for example). If you want details about the finish please respond. This particular table has really nice reclaimed wood with interesting dings, nailholes and such. The finish we have is named "salvaged natural" & it's the 96" version. My wife doesn't like table because there's gaps in the reclaimed wood, but my feeling is that one can vacuum the stuff in the cracks every so often. Would suggest that you visit a RH showroom, if possible and look, touch and analyze the wood and table? RH makes very nice items, in our opinion; we have a bunch of their furniture, lamps, etc.. https://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod370026...See Morepricklypearcactus
