Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone is having a nice day whether you celebrate or not. Today Cheryl picked me up and we visited Amber and granddaughter, Alyssa. We took Alyssa a few little gifts. Cheryl wanted to take us out for lunch and we went to this place that has a pizza and salad bar plus you get all the spaghetti you can eat too. Drinks are included in with the price for the buffet. Alyssa got to eat free. We were very full. I think I will take a nap now. 60 years ago today, my husband and I went on a first date. Happy Valentine's Day.

Happy Valentines Day to all!

We are going out to dinner, I don't have to cook so that's a good thing and I'm happy. I am hoping for seafood, lobster, king crab, crawfish, shrimp, I will be happy with any of those.
I got a lovely card this morning so he started the day off right. I had a card for him too.

Got my new printer today, and beautiful plant. We are not much into exchanging stuff or going out to eat. He just fixes what I break so that is good. LOL

Lynne, you have some of the nicest table settings :) 20 minutes for a Woolworth's frito pie!! I think I could have waited! I always make cute cupcakes or some kind of homemade goody for the grandbabies for holidays and deliver them with a card but this year I'm hobbling on a walker due to a stress fracture in my left heel. You know those pair of shoes you love but KNOW you can't wear very long? Yeah, well, our outing plans changed and I was in that type of shoe for nearly 12 hours Sat before last :o So the best Grammuffy could do was call the babies and wish them a Happy V-Day. DH came home from work with two white boxes with red bows from a cherished French bakery in Tyler...Chez Bazan. One box of decorated choc. covered strawberries and the other contained a piece of heaven! Best I can come up with from their website is Cinnamon Napoleon w/ Raspberry Sauce. I had reminded him last night that exquisite delicacies were carb free on Valentine's Day ;)

Very true, Mike, but things are slowly being restored. We were very fortunate to have power since week 2 here in Arecibo. We were without water for 36 days but purchased filtered water from a hospital supplier for drinking and cooking ... there was NO bottled water!, refilled tanks of potable water through the municipality for bathing, and collected rain water for cleaning and laundry. Telephone and internet service is very poor and has still not returned fully. We had no property damage or flooding. Just a lot of discomfort those first couple of months. Stores and supermarkets are fully stocked but lots of local produce is missing until new crops grow. I put up a few pictures on FB for public viewing. You can see that by finding maria elena, arecibo ... I am wearing a peach sleeveless top and a big smile.

Here DV is tucked in under snow which is a good thing. I think this Arctic blast will be the first time all season we may actually hit zero tonight with wind chill putting us at -10. Snow has not been plentiful this season and temps bouncing from 40's down to 20's. I think the highest snowfall this season was about 6-7 inches and that melted quickly. However, the storm we had recently will most likely hang around for longer this time. Can't wait till spring warmth arrives. Julia

We don't usually make it to dinner unless it falls on a weekend, and rarely exchange 'real' gifts, but I notice a check gone when bill paying today so expect he will come home with flowers. I bought him a self-serving gift this year, we've moved recently and he hasn't organized our now spacious two car garage yet, makes it difficult when I'm trying to get our former house ready to sell and there are things I can't find, like the paddle attachment to the drill that mixes paint...

So I bought him an assortment of hooks and organizer things for the many feet of peg board already here, hopefully before much longer I will be able to just walk out there and see what I want to use.

His sister is taking several of us out for Valentines dinner tonight, her treat - a steak house I haven't been to that an old friend of theirs has opened recently. She said the food is good and their friend needs the exposure/business. I rarely order a steak when eating out, too easy to cook them here, but it should be a fun evening all the same, a mix of friends and family.

I had a very nice surprise this afternoon. The niece of a close friend stopped by with her little 3 year old and a little box all tied up with a red ribbon. In it was cake balls and valentine cookies for dh and I. I see these two often at my friends house. The little girl is a cutie. It was a very nice and welcome surprise.
