What do you do with your WS babies over the next winter?
Comments (14)Ms Minna, do you have extended or just brief freezes there? If we are going to have wet snow, I leave things be and only protect (which I've surely lost this year but its always worth a try) my big pot of annual geranium. If it's a dry hard freeze in the forecast indicating temps into the teens for several days, I move pots with young perennials into the carport, sometimes put them on my front porch that is protected on two sides and covered, cover plants racks with plastic (Home Depot clear industrial drum liners work great), or drape things pushed close together with old tablecloths, beach towels and hope the wind doesn't take those....anything to give them a few degrees protection. I had a flat of noble fir seedlings under my car one year :) I had 4x5" pots in racks, many, frozen solid in my carport this year for more than 72 hours (weird winter) and I don't think I've lost any....newly rooting rose and shrub cuttings, many first year perennials. The perennials are frozen back to the crowns in their pots, but I don't have any reason to think dead - are you sure yours are goners? What are they and how cold did it get?...See MoreWhat do you do with all your pictures
Comments (7)Someone once mentioned putting together a calendar using their pictures and some other peoples that they saw on this forum. I was just thinking, perhaps we could "get together" and put together something that we could sell and donate the proceeds to an ecological group or something similiar. I have lots of pictures that are just okay to use like for this forum but I do have a handful that I am really proud of. I was also thinking about how you can have them put on canvas and stretched so that you can use them as art in your home. I have looked on line and it isn't cheap but when you smile everytime you see one of these winged creatures, why not enjoy it all the time....See Morewhat do you do with old baby stuff?
Comments (13)Just reading through this thread again and I remembered this. Shortly after my oldest was born, I wanted to buy an extra crib to put at my mother's house since she was going to host him (I don't like the word babysit when it refers to people like Dads and Grandparents) regularly. I bought one for $60 at a garage sale (circa 1987). Several years later when my younger son was out of the crib, I sold same crib at my own garage sale for, you guessed it, $60. Although I guess the $60 I received in ~1993 was worth less than the $60 I shelled out in 1987, I was pretty happy with the deal. The stuff I gave to the shelter was the stuff I'd had in my own home (as opposed to the crib at my mom's)....See MoreDo you have a digital picture frame?
Comments (10)Mine takes a little sd card,it's like the one that comes with the camera. I hook my camera to my computer using a usb cable. I then make a folder with just the pics i'm going to want to use in my frame. You can use any pictures you have on your computer. I bought a Targus card reader writer. sd/sdhc/mmc ( those are all the diffent cards) at Walmart for just a few dollars. It hooks up to your computer by an usb. Put your little card into this and plug it into usb port. Open you folder with your pics and choose to copy them to the reader. When finished take the little disc out and insert it into the opening thats on the picture frame. Turn on frame and it will read all the pictures. There are all kinds of setting to how your picturres display. If you only want the pictures thats on your camera disc and not any others you can take the disc from the camera and put it right into the frame. Then you have to buy another disc ( sd card) for your camera. I have one folder of pictures of my daughters growing up and now with families of there own and use just those pictures for one of my frames. It's really very easy, i've probably made it sound harder but it's not....See MoreJane_the_Renovator
