Ceiling Tiles over Calcamine painted ceiling?

I have read a number of posts regarding the problems dealing with calcamine walls. Has anyone ever tried covering with ceiling tiles instead going through the mess. I have baby coming in 3 months and I am thinking of dealing with the pealing paint/calcamine issue using celing tiles. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Any good professional painter will know how to deal with calcamine( it really is not a big deal) without the expense of ceiling tiles.

Not sure what you are asking and or what is going on ,but , kilz 2 is NOT the proper primer for going over oil based paint. You need a bonding primer( Zinsser's 123) for that.

Talked Mom into 1 coat this morning. We'll see how it looks tomorrow but I have to do walls so 2nd coat on ceiling may have to wait til Jan. But now she's asked me to do the other bathroom's ceiling! She was just worried that sheetrock would pull away from ceiling (or texture would pull off rock) b/c original 1970's ceiling was textured, not sure if painted, but then more texture sprayed on (when all I wanted was contractor to do taped joints where he reframed for shower stall), then 2 coats of Kilz she thought 2 coats of paint would break the camel's back!

I am going though the same problem with our remodel addition now. Our contractor made all of the ceilings uneven and didn't tell me, and only AFTER the tiles were put in and the dark grout added did I see the problem. When I asked him why the ceilings were uneven he said it is because "wood expands and contracts". Really? Mind you, this is a new construction addition (onto an older house). I'm not talking about the old ceilings, it's the newly built ones. It's upsetting but I'm hoping I'll get used to it and learn to live with it...I also have to deal with crown molding in the kitchen above the cabinets being uneven as well due to this problem of his slanted ceilings (it's off by up to 3/4"). Sooo upset.
