Transition from tiled ceiling over shower to painted ceiling
Comments (3)We removed the soffits in two bathrooms, and we tiled the ceilings over the tubs in both, too. In one we used matching bullnose tile as our border, or trim, in the other, our tile guy cut down marble tile/pieces to use as border/trim. The rest of the bathrooms/ceilings are painted (except over the vanities). It looks great, but I don't have any pics showing the ceilings in either bathroom. If I get a chance, I'll try to take some pics for you....See MoreTile ceiling over tub/shower?
Comments (12)Our bathroom is only 5' wide and 9' long from outside/back wall in tub/shower to door. In a bath that small do we need a fan in the shower rather than centered in the room where it has always been? We are getting a new one. There is a window in the shower that opens, for light. Above eye level. 3' long and 18" high. DH is doing all the work himself. He is very handy. He does HVAC for a living and completely remodeled our kitchen a few years ago and roof, siding, windows last summer. He has done tile, electrical and drywall too. Bathroom is pretty much the last thing not improved on this house in 16 years....See MoreCathedral ceiling over shower
Comments (11)Our last house had a cathedral ceiling over the shower. It happened because of setting the square window on end -- a design feature repeated elsewhere in the house. The first picture shows the shower from the inside; I included the shot of the outside of the house so you could get a better idea of how the shower "sat" in the space. The entire bumpout is the shower. There was a shelf that sorta shows up in the outside picture -- it held rope lighting and some decorative things. That light was always on at night and looked interesting from the outside. The hand-held shower bar was on the outside wall; the rainhead was on the adjacent wall. It definitely wasn't as warm and cozy as our old, small, enclosed glass shower was, but I loved it so much that I didn't care!! The openness meant that steam was never an issue. I loved the cathedral ceiling!! I LOVED the whole shower and intended to replicate it in the new house, but the on-end window didn't work out, and the decorative tile has disappeared from the face of the earth. Sob! Comments (5)Have a bedroom & dressing room with slanted ceilings. Spent a lot of time agonizing over the same question. What helped me was looking at a bunch of pictures. Google sloped ceilings in images or look on Houzz. I do not believe there is a "right" answer, rather it is a matter of what you like. You said a key word, "small." Thus, I would paint them whatever you want, knowing paint is easy to change. Sounds like you have a lot of white and light so I think your dark color would be fine....See MoreHALLETT & Co.
