the port is just below my collar bone and the catheter goes up a vein in my neck. It's sore. but no biggie. OMGosh, though. lol ah, last night when I got into my jammies, and ah, this is probably TMI.... but well, you ladies know with gravity... and I took off my bra and OH IT HURT! lol the pressure of gravity taking over one of my body parts putting stress on the port area! ouch! ahahahahahahaha

I LOVE when stuff like that happens. LOL. but make sure you guys fix that thing well, you're probably dealing with some pretty serious voltage! I'm something of a "handyman" myself (LOL), and when I rewire things I make sure to use a couple layers of electrical tape and seal everything up tight. you can never be too safe :) Ria

I do sentinal beach combing, write down and keep track of everything that washes up on the beach. Years ago I went to Florida for the seabean convention, yes, it's real, every October in Coco beach. One of the attendees works cleaning the beach. She had found a "brick". Threw it in the dumpster at the park. Well, when we found out we all HAD to go and look. So we loaded up in 3 cars, drove across town, PAID to get into the park and proceeded to pull everything out of the dumpster she had thrown in. We were looking at bottles, big chunks of something we tried to break open by dashing it against the parking lot, the "brick", which was a very well-wrapped package of very high grade marijuana. It was pretty stinky and rotten. But did that stop us? Oh no, we all had to smell it, touch it. So here we are, a bunch of old farts in a parking lot, professors, lawyers, nurses, throwing around stuff that had washed up on the beach and playing with a couple of pounds of rotted marijuana. The people at the hotel had a good time watching us but luckily noone called the police. I do not know how we would have explained that one!! Honestly officer, we're out here in the pitch dark digging through a dumpster with a couple of pounds of marijuana because we're at a seabean convention!!! Do you think they would have thrown us in jail or just the nut ward? I gotta make reservations for next year, that's a fun convention. Tally HO!

Happened just today! DH and I were cleaning up the garage after emptying out a storage shed. Mostly it entailed moving fairly large pieces of furniture up to the second floor. "lift it up!", "lift WHAT up to where?", "lift your side UP", "you mean just up?", "I said UP! How is that complicated?!?", "up, & turn it to the wall, you mean?", "JUST LIFT IT UP!!!" ks toolgirl....were you there? listening? :-) only thing is....he sometimes doesn't even answer my questions....just does his thing and it is up to me to guess what we are doing. My usual refrain is ..."talk to me...tell me what we are doing". Really drives me crazy as I am a teacher and used to giving direction. A teacher he is NOT! lavender...now on to the subject! When we originally bought our home, we planned to build a garage. Even measured to be sure we could build the size garage we wanted and checked with city hall. We did not build the garage right away, took almost 8 years. But over that time we totally changed our ideas and built a garage that fit our home and time period (1800's)so much better than what we would have built originally. Also built it in a different location than we had originally planned. So we are very glad we didn't do that! (build the garage when we first moved in)

You guys are All AWESOME!! I am gonna make that list tonight. (dh has been bugging me to make a list) I stepped up the door painting today. I was able to work on 3 doors today. I was doing like 1 door at a time and there is a lot of waiting time between steps so it was taking forever. Doing 3 today I feel good about it! Sarschlos .. I'm using water based primer Kilz latex 123. I've already re hung several of the doors already and so far so good. Those doors were left out and about after they were painted for a good week before I put them back up there. I might be biting off more than I can chew. I *want* to paint the living room and entry but not sure I can get to it. If I can get some extra money .. then maybe I can hire someone to come in and do the painting of those rooms. I'm wierd.. I like to prep my own walls and paint so it will be the way I like it (roll eyes) I have a very good handyman I use though and he does drywall work to perfection. He is $20 an hour - which isn't bad at all. But with Christmas coming up .. any extra money needs to go for presents and stuff, so that is why I was just going to paint myself. See .. it's a circular argument LOL Okay.. well I will make a daily list for the cabinets and make it so that IF the cabinets are done then I can start on the living room laxsupermom: I know what you mean about indecisiveness. It can make you crazy. I can't decide what to do about a common wall between my living room and entry. I've been thinking about it for about a year LOL. good luck on choosing your countertops

You always bring a smile to my face, Kat! I pray for you and follow your cheerful and funny posts--I was glad to see you check in today after the porcedure. Thanks for writing and I hope the pain disappears quickly. (Not sure what to do about the gravity problem. :( )

I'm soooo glad there was no "oopps" on the doctor's part. Can you imagine where that port might have ended up? LOL Praying the pain and discomfort is only temporary for you and of course praying that soon you will get the "all free of cancer" report.

DH #1 had his port in the same location....he said it was so much better - had both arms and hands free during chemo, and didn't interfere with his golf swing :)

The gravity didn't affect me, but my port is right where my strap goes. Guess the doctor didn't think about that. :o) You'll be glad you have it.

DS's is in the same place.The only problem he had was having to have it irrigated every time they started another round of chemo.It always took a long time to get it cleaned out after two weeks.I don't think it's that way with everyone though.I'm praying for you Kat!

Kat, Glad it went well for you.I didn't have to worry about gravity either as i had the mastectomy before i did chemo.
When do you start chemo?? My doc waited til the port area healed up before i started.How many sessions will you have??Best of luck to you and keep that good attitude,they tell me that's what got me through with minimal problems.

Glad you got that over with, Kat, and those ports are so useful for not only treatment, but for all the bloodwork to be done, too.

I had my central line in the same location as your port and actually kinda missed it when it was removed over 6 months later..I guess it had become my 'security blanket'. lolol

Keep us posted on your treatment schedule and how you're feeling. We here for you, dear Kat.

thanks everyone. nope, i'm nothing special... just doing what i have to do, there are so many more that are going through so much more.

I wore my bra to bed! LOL I don't think I EVER thought I'd be wearing an underwire to bed, but it helped! LOL Less sore everyday!

Kathi.. i was taking chemo before Christmas, and the pet scan showed it wasn't doing the trick, so we decided to do a new drug, not too far off of clinical trials. I already had one infusion with the new stuff. I go 2 days in a row, every four weeks. my next one is scheduled next Wed. and thurs. the 3rd and 4th.

the Doc didn't sneeze! I'm back! lol
