Highly-Fragrant Plants--let's list our favorites!
Comments (52)My faves...... *Nicotiana alata (common evening flowering white) *Datura inoxia *Matthiola incana (started blooming in 90+ degree temps!) *Clarkia elegans (Clarkia amoena does not have a fragrance) *Lilac *Blue Elderberry (Sambucus mexicana).....Native to Eastern WA. I'm scoping out seeds around the corner from me...empty lot. It's a matter of getting them before the birds do though LOL! They are still in flower and smells soooo heavenly :O *Common Milkweed (give it it's own area!) I've been yanking out runners this year 15' away from the mother plant...runners didn't start until year 4! *Phlox paniculata As far as foul smelling: *Pelargonium x hortorum *Ginkgo biloba....steer clear of females; their fruit are extremely foul smelling!! *Ligustrum obtusifolium (Privet) *Juniper (I think it smells of cat urine) Of course most herbs, however there is no smell until leaves or flowers(of some) are crushed, rubbed, etc. Some people think Catmint smells like cat urine. Not sure which Nepeta they have, but mine sure smells much more pleasant than that LOL!...See MoreA personal question - how bare do you go?
Comments (140)This may send this thread into a whole other topic, but (and this is just my opinion!) I think oral sex is much more common now than ever before. Not to say it hasn't been done forever, but I think there's a trend for kids to want to say they're virgins when they're married, and they don't think of oral sex as losing their virginity...thus there's much more attention paid to that area with a razor/wax/whatever. It's getting more "face time" (HAHA!). When I talk to my kids about sex, they say that's what "most kids" are doing, oral sex, not intercourse. Just a theory. For the record, I think it's much more common for a guy to "manscape" than ever before. In my circle of friends, the women generally prefer to groom themselves with a "landing stip." I'm in my mid-forties....See MoreSensitive Elderly Parent
Comments (38)This is a complicated situation and you have received lots of good suggestions here. I would echo those that suggest reaching out to her doctor. My mother is now 85 and in the late stages of ALZ. However, we noticed very subtle personality changes a few years before the "memory" issues emerged. As we became more concerned, we reached out to her physician and shared our concerns/experiences. She denied she was experiencing any issues or changes to us and to him but it did serve to give her doctor a more complete picture of her health. My mom was the picture of health and always put together. When she agreed to move to be closer to one of us five years ago, we got a fuller picture of the underlying issues. There was real chaos below the surface - literally in her drawers and closets and her executive functioning. It had to be terrifying for her to experience the changes and keep them hidden. To this day, I wish we had paid closer attention. Doubt the outcome would be any different but wish we had gotten her to a neurologist sooner as the thorough work-up provided the best information we needed to accept and support her through the progression. If we had done that sooner, we would known more and denied less. Bottom line, the changes were subtle at first and I'm pretty sure fear-based. If I could do it all over again, I would be more tolerant and gentle with her. Time flies. I wish you all the best - it sounds like you are doing everything to try and understand and cope with your mom's changing behavior....See MoreDo you fit your Myers-Briggs personality type?
Comments (62)The case of the test is wrong! Can anyone remember the name of the personality type test (very very long) that involved a portion on what you would take to survive being stranded on an island? It was designed in part to see who had leadership potential ( was not the 2 island test). I think the results were determined partially by being able to sway people to your way of thinking. Any way, funny true story. A million years ago when I was young I started working for a corporation that I loved. The management was exceptional. Over time it went way down hill. Management was fornicating with staff, management was fornicating with corporate inspectors and smoking whacky weed with staff. This became the norm. Horrible. Without doing any checks on what past personality trait tests were given, they gave the above test again and again. Occasionally they would skip a year. One year we were told there was a meeting. I had a lunch date scheduled for after. Imagine my disappointment in finding we had to do that long stupid test again. I would miss my lunch date. So, in all areas of our group discussion part of the test I convinced everyone to agree with everything a true imbecile in our group had to say. I told them if they didn’t we would all be sitting there for hours and hours. The imbecile thought I was singling him out for his greatness. In the end I made my lunch date. A few days later the imbecile was made assistant manager. A more unsuitable person couldn’t have been had if you looked to the end of earth. A short time after that, I left. Right after that, the place was sold. The sale had been in the cards for a while I think....See Moreneetsiepie
