I am canceling my service with Comcast. I have the $4.99 charge to cover me in case I need to have a service call. Well in April I did have a service call as one of my two phone lines was not working. The technician who came out broke my phone and did not tell me that he broke it. I found that out much later -- it should have been a hint when he did not want me to hold the phone. Then he or Comcast put a $70.00 charge on my account. When I called Comcast, I told them about this, they admitted that it should not have been there and they told me that they would credit my account on the next bill, but that I was expected to pay it and they would issue a credit. I need to check the statutes but I don't think you can collect on disputed charges, especially when you are aware that YOU made the mistake. For the $70.00 that should not have been billed, they interrupted the service. I refuse to pay it and have notified my local jurisdiction and the FCC. If you are looking for a cable or internet or phone provider, don't walk past Comcast, run as fast and as far as you can.

flyleft, I thought about putting china white on the ceiling, but it looked so grey on the swatch I was afraid it would look dirty. In fact I was worried the China White would not be enough contrast with the Revere Pewter on the lower wall. The lower wall I can repaint myself if it's wrong, so I'll take a chance, but not these tall ceilings! I made that mistake once before, painted a room Rosemary Sprig a beautiful medium green, then painted the ceiling just a touch warmer then ceiling white, and boy, it looked like cr@p. The ceiling looked just plain dirty and I had to live with it for years. Won't do that again!

As I mentioned in the original post, I think we are already too far down the road of "range goes in island" as the room is still down to studs, but electrical and plumbing are in and we're poised to begin drywalling in the next 2 weeks. However, our plan is below in case anyone has ideas... this is becoming my biggest regret already! Note that we are planning a range (not a cooktop) in the island and an oven + micro in the wall (not double ovens). We arrived at this because we dislike under-the-counter micros and don't have a ton of upper space in this kitchen. There is no view, but the island overlooks a big open floorplan sitting area and dining room, which opens to backyard with french doors. The window over the sink overlooks a sunny front yard. It is not a "show kitchen" as we are regular and adventurous cooks. But... I would caveat to say that we intend to sell the place within 3-5 years so want to make sure we don't make poor choices for resale. It is not intended to be a "forever home". Movies don't have to be sad to make me cry. If they are beautiful, heart-touching, funny, have soaring music, or have a perfect resolution, I cry. Heck, that Folger's commercial where the son comes home in time for Christmas and puts on the coffee, that makes me cry. (I love a good pot of coffee lol) If a book made me weep, (Harold Fry), I know I cannot watch the movie. As for the commercials about evil side effects of drugs, we mute the TV as soon as commercials come on. Not just those, but those with annoying music like car and cable commercials. Life's to short to be annoyed.
