I'll probably be the odd man out, but I think black and white, or some other kind of large buffalo check would be beautiful with the yellow walls. Or any color walls.

Have you looked at Country Curtains?

Love the carpet...it looks like it has a dusty teal or a pale sage in there that would look nice on the wall....

Not sure if you want to close the curtains or not, so that would affect the type of header you get, but if you leave them open, then these would work...or pinch pleat or grommeted...this is more for color and texture....

Or if you can find a print or geometric, that would work as well...I'd really like to see the addition of some pattern and texture in the room......

I would do simple panels, maybe grommet top, in a color that is pretty close to the wall color - but that's just my personal preference because I don't like highly contrasting drapes.

Love the suggestions! These are some of the things I have come up with to add a different vibe to the room. My concern is whether it will work with the heavy leather furniture.

The last ones are the green/blue that is in the rug and that I hope to have in the curtains.

I know what I like but I have trouble envisioning it in the room. I need something for the wall over the couch that is substantial. The only thing I have hung now (over the chaise) that I want to keep is a quatrefoil mirror/clock. The current picture over the couch is rusts, golds, yellows, and greens. I have metal art flanking it, which worked good for the way the room was before. But I want something different now.

As you can see, I (and my house) are a mess and need a lot of direction. I pretty much am changing everything but the furniture which I hate but DH loves and spent a pretty penny for. I plan on slowly helping him realize it needs to be replaced but in the mean time, I want to complete the rest of the room.

I did find a print I liked that was a picture of hydrangea blooms in a tin vase. It was creams, whites, blacks, grays, and lavenders. The frame was ahitewashed/creamy. It is not as large as the picture currently over the couch though but is marked down to a great price and I have been admiring it for a couple of weeks. Could I flank it with some of the mirrors I posted earlier? I am at a loss here.

I like those drapery panels, but they look a bit beachy and light with the leather furniture. Which sums up the problems you are having with the room - the heavy, dark leather furniture dominates the room, but your personal tastes run lighter and airy-er.

For the room, I prefer lamps 1 and 3 over 2, 4, 5, and 6.

Absolutely, Graywings! I cannot wait to replace the furniture but that will be a bit farther down the road. Sigh. Thank you for your input on the lamps. I, too, adore 1 and 3. I like the base on 2 but the shade is too "shabby chic" for my tastes.

Have you thought about changing the furniture arrangement? It bothers me that the loveseat is not centred in front of the window. Could you put the 3 seat couch there and the loveseat where the couch is now...but farther down the wall? You probably wouldn't have a table in the corner...one would be at the door end of the couch and the other where it is now...at the end of the love seat (if you put it there). As for curtains....I can see white drapes and I can see dark red drapes or maybe cream colored to blend in with the walls. I would like to see lamps that are darker than you have pictured....depends on the drapery/curtains.

villageworkroom dot com makes beautiful silk pannels with a large selection of colors and different top types. They were the least expensive option for us and the product is lovely. I highly recommend them!

I am looking for curtains for a similar wall color. I ruled out shutters as too much $$-- what if I didn't like them? Would probably like a large scale floral print but not many choices in my area and it means an anxious process of buying samples. Meanwhile I NEED SOMETHING OVER THE WINDOWS-- so I ordered cotton voile sheers from Pottery Barn. I'll post pictures when they get here.
