If your a goodwill club card holder they are doing 50% off a single item. We scored with a brand new Dyson Vacuum priced in the Goodwill store at $199, we got it today for $100.00. Walmart has it for $399.00. I love it. We have a Kirby alreay but I've wanted something upstairs so I don't have to drag mine up and down. I wasn't sold on them until today. I treated the carpets with baking soda and borax yesterday, vacuumed with the kirby last night and couldn't believe how much the Dyson picked up that my kirby didn't.

Wow, what a great deal. I have two dyson's and love them. It is almost embarrassing how much I pick up with them. Do you have Savers by you? I know there are two in Madison. They are having a half price sale on Feb. 21.

Gosh you got a fantastic deal. What color is it? Mine is purple and I bought it at Sears for $600 plus.

Karen, I saw those plates on Ebay last year and really wanted some, but they were too much $$. So when I saw them on the shelf at Good Will, I had them in my cart in a nano-second!!! I couldn't believe that they were all 4 in the box and not broken or chipped or anything, You bet I was doing the Happy Dance!! Then when I found the hat plates, I was even happier because I had tried to find more last year, and couldn't. Oh Yeah, happy dance, happy dance!! Jeanne, glad the siding is done and you found some goodies too!! The carriage lights started out with the pumpkins, then last year I added the hats, and now the bows seem to make them complete. Jane, the center of the plates are the same, but the borders are 4 different ones. How ironic that we both found the same set, but you got the added bonus of the extra plate! Karen, that is one of the drawbacks for me to Ebay as the shipping often makes things too expensive. I was very excited over the price too!! Kath, have fun at the sale. I'll be on the golf course although I pretty well spent my allowance already for this week, LOL DG, that is where I saw them first and was totally turned off by the price. But, $4.24 is definitely in my range. Nana, I will be using the witch hat plates on my Witch's party tablescape. Punk, I always enjoy seeing everyone else's decorations too. Relax and enjoy. It's great to find something new at a thrift store. I've gone there to buy dishes because I generally only buy pairs of settings, and that's easy enough to find. As for the silver - I found a set of sterling silver dessert forks and spoons at an antique shop on La Brea that had just come in from an estate sale and were all tarnished. I took my glasses off to read the sterling mark, but the seller did not and sold them to me for the price of silver plate. I weighed them after I bought them and found that the silver alone was worth more than twice what I paid for them. San Francisco is a terrible place for thrift stores because the antique dealers swarm on them at 5:00 a.m. on delivery days and pick through all the good stuff. I found a lot of good stuff in free boxes in S.F., however, and didn't pay a cent for it. One year I did my Christmas shopping at free boxes and got presents that my sister and SIL both loved. I couldn't tell them where I got them, however. I need to make some donations to thrift stores now - we usually go to Out of the Closet, which is very close by. Okay, the tribe has spoken (both the online tribe, and the "natives", LOL!) and I will be keeping the fabric. However, I will be making slipcovers for it. I love the idea of making several, and changing them out for the seasons. For spring I'll probably do a very simple duck cloth, skirted kind, and then maybe around the holidays I could do a jazzed up, fringed, multi-fabric kind. The map is just too fun to tear off, but it's not really my thing, so I know I'll get tired of looking at it. Removable slipcovers will be just the thing! I'll echo that Salvation Army has really ridiculous prices. Honestly, I've seen 30 year old chairs in there marked higher than what I could buy new! The only time it would be worth it to me is if there was some vintage, pristine retro thing. From time to time I've seen some really cool modern/retro 60's chairs and sofas that were in pristine condition and were just awesome. Goodwill has MUCH better prices, and the one in my area gets new items daily. I make it a point to drop in at least every few days, as you just never know what will be there. The good thing is that I live in an affluent community, so the cast-offs can be very high quality. When I used to live in Dallas I noticed the same thing. Some of the thrift stores/Goodwills there were absolute treasure troves.

Thanks to all. Greenthumbfish, I saw that stencil at Hobby Lobby. I ended up passing on it because the repeat on the pattern was so small. I was afraid it might end up too busy. I wish they would have made a bigger stencil! Parma, I agree with you 100%. I think that day, my stiff upper lip was already starting to quiver b/c of the rest of the chaos I was having to be so strong about. Handling critique and suggestions (albeit harmless and trying to be helpful) that I had not solicited was just more than I could stand, especially when I thought I was pretty clear on the nature of the post. Again, it had nothing to do with the comments, and everything to do with the timing. Sometimes you just can't hear how you can be "better", especially when as you explained, "better" is so subjective to personal style. I will remember your words, though, and will make sure to laugh at myself as I count my accessories! Puna, I have to say I'm pretty dismayed as well. For the life of me, I can't figure out how removing those comments was necessary or helpful. (Yours and several others, including some of mine!) Ugh. LaFonda, yes, my stomach went into knots when the property manager called and said I needed to get over there immediately because water was "everywhere". I thought he was exaggerating. He wasn't. Ugh again. Joanie, I don't think I'll stop, but I think I may definitely change how I post photos. This post has served as very clear reminder of how some people think, and knowing I can't change that, all I can do is change how much of it I set myself up for. Patty, you got the whole point of the post; I was delighted to find something so pretty when I was going through something so horrid. Thanks for "getting it."

Its the yellow one. Not the roller ball but we are very pleased with it. Just what it saves me lugging the kirby up and down will be great. They have allot of them on the shopgoodwill auction but sometimes people bid too much and then throw the shipping in and its not always a great deal. this though, great deal.

Holy Crap!!!!
I never find any electronics, machines, etc of any use in our second hand shops. Nicole bought her Zo bread-maker in her Goodwill/second-hand store.

I've read where the Ball is hard to vacuum in a straight line.
I'd love to buy the canister. I think that one is neat.

You never know what deals you might find! I haven't been going to Goodwill as much lately and sometimes I wonder what I'm missing but I figure what I don't know won't bother me. I did stop in last week just to check if they had a pair of snowboots in Dan's size, thinking it a longshot at this time of year, but there they were. Only $3. The size was missing but they also had a pair one size smaller and I just compared them sole to sole.

Two thumbs up on your great find. I have always wanted a Dyson. Also the person who posted about the Ball Dyson was hard to vaccum in straight line, thanks for the info. That has been the one I have been looking at. That is good to know. I am now over the Ball Dyson, and will look some more at their other models.
