pine or white oak wood floors

We are renovating our 1893 Dutch Colonial Revival cottage. Two of the bedrooms have what we think is the original flooring - 4" vertical grain pine. The rest of the house has 2" red oak.

We are planning to replace all the red oak (and leave the pine in the 2 bedrooms) and not sure whether to use pine (which is very soft and easily dents) or 4" quartersawn white oak which is more durable but has an older look to it.

Any suggestions?
