Yvette, very nice console and lovely room! My vote would be to leave it on the console. At least from the pictures, it appears to be the right viewing height. As was recently told to me, you really need to judge if everyone is looking up or straining to see the tv. The other issue is room to display accessories on the console. You may not have enough room to exhibit tall items.

Love your room--colors are great--very warm and inviting.
We just mounted a tv over our fireplace--don't want to talk about the cost as it was WAY over the top...anyway, I personally would give anything to undo what we did as I think it awkward and I really don't like the look--should have stayed my ground--this is in the living room no less..

Thanks - I got the console at the Nieman Marcus outlet on sale for $500.00. It is made by Stein World.
I guess I will leave it on the console a little while and then decide.

I prefer the mounted look. I put mine over an antique buffet and I think it just has a cleaner look to get the stand off the piece of furniture. You can even opt to put the wiring through the wall. Let it go in the wall behind the tv, then down and come out behind the console. I haven't done that yet, but I've considered it and DH said just tell him when I'm ready. For now I've just placed some things on top that pretty much hide it. Your new console is very pretty!

I would mount it if you are using it right there. I think some space between it and the console will allow the pretty console piece to really shine. Also allows for a few decorative things on the console, perhaps a planter, etc.

Just wondering if you are committed to having the tv and console smack in the middle of that wall? I was thinking that moving it down to the right and angling it across the corner near the sliding door would allow it to be there when you wanted to view it, but not be the focal piece in the seating area. You could then do a gallery arrangement of the art you have on the red wall. You could move the round table in between the couch and chair, moving the chair and couch into a tighter 'L' arrangement. Then use the square table by the chair on the left end of the room, where it might not feel quite as bulky and would keep the walkway open into the seating area.

Well, Les - I have tried every possible way to rearrange this space in the past - angles and all. It is a very tight area with two entrance ways - I wish I had 5 more feet or more walls to work with - but I don't. Look at the photo below - if I angled the sofa towards the french doors then I would be seeing a bulky sofa as I step into the FR. Does it really look that bad as it is?

I did not mean for you to angle the couch at all. I would think that you would still be able to see the tv comfortably from the couch as it is, if the tv was placed in the corner where the tall vase is now.

Of course, perspective is deceiving on the monitor, so perhaps you wouldn't be able to see the tv from there?

No, I don't think it looks bad the way it is, but I'll be honest, I am not crazy about the two tall pix on either side of the tv. If the tv stays in the middle, I would consider moving the art around - the two pix and the bottom of the tv are all about at the same point, and it feels like the two pix are trying to be alike, but really aren't. You could also consider hanging the tv on the wall and adding gold framing attached to the wall around it to make it look like it is a part of the gallery.

My vote is for it to stay on the console. Looks great.

DD1 just moved into a new place in San Francisco. My job was to hang things....in solid walls. Lots of fun - not! Her tv was mounted in the last place and the guy who installed it did not give her the tv stand. We could not find one locally, so I mounted it to the wall. She bought a chandelier cord cover to cover the wires so it blends into the paint. Just thought I'd mention in case anyone had the same problem.

Considering the style of decor in that room, I would frame and mount it. The gloss finish is a distraction from you furniture and wall art. It just looks out of place. I believe you can get pre-made picture style frames now for plasmas/LCDs that would cover the existing bezel and allow you to customize the look of the TV on your wall to blend in with your wall art.

Is there room for the console to sit diagonally in the right corner? Very pretty console.
Monster cable makes HD cables that are paintable to help blend with wall colors better when wall mounting.

I am with bungalow I would be outside all the time. I think it is beautiful inside and out! Having a very small walk thru room as you do I totally understand....Now, if you don't mind what color is your paint....

Oh Oh - I think it's time to tell DH to put a TV in the patio - but I need to run the cables through the attic into the patio! I don't think he is going to like that.

We purchased a flat screen a couple of weeks ago and had never considered wall mounting it. My DH really wanted it on the wall so I said to go ahead and do it. I didn't have strong enough feelings about it to say no. You have to pick your battles. Well....I must say I like it so much more wall mounted. It just looks alot cleaner. The cables are still showing but he's going to run them thru the wall so we won't see them.
