Sorry to bring this back from page two, but, I just had to thank you all so much for the birthday wishes!!! Also, thank you, ((Joy & Summer)) for your emails.

The reason I haven't been around for a while is because last Feb. I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer which has recently gone to my lungs, they "think". Well, I'm believing it's not and when I'm ready to hear what 'they' say after this next round of chemo, we'll find out ..... maybe.

In the meantime, I'll try to ck in with you guys again soon.

Again, thanks for remembering me. :)

I have ordered from many Thai sellers and Rinoa from Taiwan for many years and have been either fortunate and stay with sellers w a good track record. A concern for labeling a seller as bad, can all be subject to information given by each individual. I believe that any concerns should be made apparent to all individuals here, so that each one of us can make our own educated decision as to whether we want to pursue purchasing from a seller. To many variables fall into play, unless obvious as in the Pom issue. Which is deceitful at the least. What is happening w the Thai sellers, is that they want to take payment either through Western Union or PayPal (Friends & Family). This way there is not recourse for us when purchasing. Basically putting cash into someone hand and hope they are honest. The one thing that I was made aware of at first getting into these plants, was to not order after Oct/Nov or before Mar. If we do order plants within these parameters then we risk the chances of cold conditions. Even if we live in a warmer area through out the winter months. The point of entry into out country is relatively cold. Not the best conditions for these Adeniums. Especially in the winter where my plants would arrive to. A friend many years ago had told me to hold off as much as it might be difficult, as I wanted them right now. Glad he did make this apparent to me. I have been caught in a similar situation as Tyler did w Rinoa. Fortunately she made good with it. In my situation it had become apparent that she had built her business up and had many people hired to help her, as she could not manage on her own. This leading to unqualified or uneducated eyes packaging plants for export and not aware of what healthy plants look like. This falls on Rinoa's hands and is responsible for this. For me, my one question to a seller will be. "If a plant is shipped with rot or unhealthy and received within reasonable time frame, Will it plant be replaced and shipping paid by them." If the resulting answer is "No" then I will not be ordering anything. Probably will find that most will not conform to this. I feel for most of you within the U.S., to have people such as Tracy (may be others, but I do not remember) growing these throughout the year and selling with the U.S. This is where I would look if not wanting to purchase from outside of the country. I can purchase from the U.S., but the cost of the Phytosanitary Certificate from U.S. makes it not very expensive. That's it for me. If a "Thread" is to be started with a heading so that people can peruse it and make an informative decision based on what they read, then I am for this. Rick

I just emailed John again, and encouraged him to read the comments here. He did mention that he doesn’t often go to Houzz to read because it just reminds him of what once was. I do understand that, and respect his decision if he is t willing to try again. That being said, I do wish he would give it one more try. John, if you’re reading this, maybe you could just try adding a comment here. Most people don’t have a problem adding a comment to an existing thread. Many people are able to start new threads with text, but are only able to post photos in a comment following their initial post. I am in that category unless I use my Amazon Fire tablet. For some reason I CAN post pictures with my opening post on that. Since I prefer to use my iPhone, I just add my pictures in a comment immediately afterwards. I usually don't respond to these kinds of post, because I feel helpless and useless in the face of such adversity. However, I do have a little something in the way of hope to pass on to you. Almost 15 years ago my dear sister was diagnosed with stage 4++ lung cancer, and given 6 weeks! They suggested she forgo treatments, get her affairs in order, and prepare her family to go on without her. She told them that she would do that, just as soon as she was ready to let go. She left us last summer, but oh what wonderful times we all had in those 14 years between... Her doctors said she was living (literally) proof of what a positive outlook (and a fair amount of stubbornness) can do.
I wish you the best in your fight. You will be in my thoughts.

Oh.
I forgot.

My neighbor across the road beat stage four cancer.
She is in her second year of remission.

One breast was removed immediately upon finding the cancer (did I mention it was stage four) and she underwent a radiation-chemo combo five days a week for six weeks.

They they gave her a break.
The only side effect was a little red rash on her neck and the loss of hair.

She gets checked every three months and comes up with a big thumbs up from the doctors who gave her little chance of surviving.

So Gale, if little ole Juanita from across the road who only puts her teeth in for special occasions can beat cancer, my money is on you too!

I missed your birthday post too Sherriff so I'm really glad I found this thread.
But I'm also so sorry I found it and to hear that you're battling this mongrel disease! You've got the whole KT behind you kid and my money is on you to beat it.

There are so many who have been able to live their lives for many years in remission, with the new treatments available. We hope that such may be possible for you.

And look at ol' Granlan..over 5 yrs. in remission from Stage 4 colon cancer! Yep, attitude is key and I know you've got plenty of it..but, in a good way. :)
