Other thoughts. My house has no real theme or particular style. Most my colors are earthtones with some red, some gold, and bits of black. No blues or greens. Two red brick fireplaces, one in each room adjoining the kitchen. Wall colors in other rooms are either a soft cream or SW Relaxed Khaki.

The concrete looks good with your granite but I think it would be a more "modern" vibe than what the cabs will be.

On the Cristallo board, I really like the color on the bottom (the brown).

The Cristallo is actually darker in person, than in the pic. I really like it, just wish it came in other sizes.

Love both the cabinet wood and the granite. I agree that a simple, uniform tile is the way to go. I really like the ones in your second two photos. The only one I really dont care for is the concrete. It has a little movement that competes with the granite, and the texture/feel is a little off to me. Maybe it is too modern, as pbrisjar said. I think smokey topaz is my favorite from those photos.

Dh really loves the pattern (not the color) in pkirkhas kitchen. While I really want glass, I'm not sure how to do this without it looking really modern.

Love your cabinets and granite together! I like the glass tile - I might be influenced by the name (my countertops are Zodiaq Smokey Topaz quartz), but I do like glass tile, and I think it would be a cool vibe in your kitchen. Not too contemporary, but just kind of cool.

It doesn't come in 3x6? I love glass brick. But no worries if it doesn't - I like brick the best when there is color variation, so I think the 4x4's would still look great.

Actually, it does come in the 3x6, it's under the Cristallo Select name.

I love what you've chosen so far. I think you are well on your way to a beautiful kitchen. My personal preference would be for either the concrete look or the Smoky Topaz. I don't think you should be constrained by the fear of looking too modern. If you like the glass tiles, go for it.

Stephanielynn, All your choices look good and would be fine. I think you need a little more contrast, however. Your granite has so much life and motion that I'm assuming you want that kind of active, bright look. The matching colors you've chosen are going to tone it down rather than set it off. If you chose it because you like the colors, but don't really like how much movement there is in it, then one of the grays will make it look sharp. If you want it to blend more with the other finishes, especially the floor, the tan works. I like the tiles, but to set off the granite, they should be darker or lighter.

I'd do a lighter color, and with only a hint of the gray or tan (or both), if any. Finding just the right thing is a bear, I agree, but as so many have told you before, you'll know it when you see it.

I don't know if it'll work in your situation, but if you don't want a contrast backsplash you might consider using the stone.

I love the movement and the colors. I don't want to tone down the granite, but I don't want the backsplash to compete with it.

I considered using the same stone, I'd be looking at about 1200.00-1500.00 for materials. While I'm not against spending that, I could probably get a really nice handmade tile for that.

Artistic Glass makes glass tiles that come in a variety of sizes and configurations. It's kinda hard to tell on a monitor but I think the Ovation color looks like a match.
