I was at Lowe's yesterday looking for a trim to add to the bottom of my cabs too! What I did find was something in the section of trim and molding called a 'stop'. I have no idea what it is supposed to be used for but I think it will work. They had it in real wood and in that styrofaom composite. I am not gettting that fake type b/c I think if any dishes accidentaly hit it, it'll end up with bumps in it. The wood one was only ~$5 per 7 feet anyway. It is about 1.5 inches wide with ~1 inch of that perfectly flat and then it sort of tapers/scallops down to the bottom and the bottom is perfectly flat. The total height though is Oh, I just looked on Lowe's and found it: Item # 112386
Model # 916. Maybe they have something a little more substantial too.
Please let me know if you find something. I was going to get that trim today but will wait a little longer to see what other options there might be. Thanks for posting such a timely question for me!

If your town has a specialty hardware and trim store, you can find more options there. Below is a link to one in my town. Look for something like this store where you live.

Ordering this to be shipped is not the best option. But if you can't find what you like any other way go for it.

Also, cabinet companies sell the trim separately. Since you are painting your cabinets you could order the trim from the cabinet department at Lowes and paint/stain to match. This would be more expensive, but would open up a lot of options.

Sill/Tile questions: Post that separately and address it to Bill V/Mongo. Also put it in the Bath forum so they will be sure to see it. They are the tile experts. It's okay to pop over to other forums and post when the answer
will help others. This question could be either kitchen or bath.

as for you trim...i am not sure to what you are referring, but Lowes and box stores are not where I would go. Lee Valley or some other woodworkers supply mail order often have various trims. Even better, real lumber supply stores will be able to get what you need. They are typically much cheeper for better grade materials also! As far as the window, you are I think referring to the window apron that extends below the window sill. If you have the room and prefer the more refined look of the added apron, go for it. If you want the more flush look of no apron, go for straight tile. One thing is that installing the apron with the tile cut around it is more expensive...not a lot, but a hour or two more labor.

I'm still pondering what trim to add to dress up the bottom of my upper cabs. I went to two lumber mills and a supply store in addition to HD and Lowe's and no luck. They did mention that I could custom order trim from the cabinet makers but the lead time is lengthy and the price is too much for me. The Lowe's stop I mentioned isn't quite what I want but seems to be the closest thing I can find around here. I may have to go with it unless...hopefully...anyone has a better idea. Thanks for any other suggestions.
