Bill V/Mongo - Windowsill Tiling question

Hi, someone told me you would be the ones to ask about tiling. We're putting a backsplash in, and we currently have the laminate backsplash going up around the windowsill, which is going to be ripped out when the counter guys come. Hubby is doing the tiling and says that he's done a lot of tile over the windowsill, but I just don't think it's going to look right. I'd much rather have the look of a wooden windowsill with an apron underneath. However, the Lowe's guy said that we could install a windowsill, but if we are tiling the backsplash, then we wouldn't want to add the apron underneath because the tile would be thicker than the thin part of the casing that would be up against the tile, creating a thin ledge. Made sense to me. But then I saw that

has the windowsill with apron WITH tile. It doesn't look as if the tile has created a ledge there. Can someone advise?

Here are some pics of the tile we have chosen:

Thank you!
