Life is crazy....!

I have posted on this forum before and on others as well. Life isn't perfect but things have improved a lot. I am about 8 months pregnant with a child neither of us was expecting. No pun intended. I posted about unbearable pain earlier. The good news is that I am no longer in much pain at all. After trying, what seemed like every option I was directed by an er doctor to check with my back surgeon. Duh, I should have thought about that before. I had to check with him when I found out I was pregnant, but never thought to make an appointment afterwards. After the appointment and the shot I was given near the base of my spine during, I feel like a different person. The best thing is that it seems much like it will be a one time thing with the shot. Things are going much better at home. I have been playing catch up with the house cleaning and trying to get ready for the baby. BTW, when this one is born I am getting fixed! I don't ever want to worry about this again. And I hate taking chances with all of the other options. Obviously they don't work all of the time.

Here is the question. I am definitely too old to be having kids again, I am 36 and will be 37 less than 2 weeks after the baby is born. This is my opinion,as far as more kids goes, considering my health and history of complications. I never felt like a beached whale with my other kids. I actually lost over 20 lbs. with this pregnancy, but I wasn't tiny to begin with, not huge just huge. It has leveled out, but I am still not gaining weight. From the size of my stomach, the baby is definitely not being affected by my weight. My husband thinks pregnant women are sexy. I think he is nuts, but like I said there wasn't a problem last time. We spent a lot of time working on some old issues after our last problem with the lack of sensitivity to my pain. I think we made good progress, but right now, he can't seem to understand why I am not interested. I can't seem to get in the mood. My husband works long hours when the weather is fit, and it has been. He is working 13-15 hours a day. I would think he is too tired to fool around, but I think he has the hormone imbalance. Jeez! Anyway, I am home all day with the kids, sometimes with my 3 month old granddaughter as well, and I just drag by the end of the day. I normally would try to muster the energy for some play time, but I find it hard to switch gears. He can go from working like crazy to cruising ebay to reading the news and watching tv- to ready in an instant. I am thinking part of my lack of drive may be hormones and part of it being treated like he is only interested in one part of me when he is home. Some women would think I am nuts, but I just don't feel sexy even when I go out of my way to get all dolled up. I just can't find any interest in being treated like I am just here for the sex. I guess it would be different if he was interested in anything about me or my body besides the parts he wants to play with. I can't wait to have the baby and get back to "normal", if there is such a thing. I am hoping his fixation with the pregnancy sex goes back to normal, too.

Any advice would be appreciated and I am sure interesting.

That's it in a nutshell.

The problem isn't even sex as such, it's the objectification of yourself & your body;
the fact that your husband is getting all turned on because you're pregnant is just adding insult to injury:

Treating anybody like a resource to be mined is degrading & insulting, & treating your partner that way when you know she doesn't want to do what you want her to do is doubly disrespectful.

I guess my best bet is maybe to just wait until after the baby is born. He was never this way when I wasn't pregnant. It is a fetish of sorts, I guess. Maybe I can wait for that. Anyway, we normally don't have issues in this dept. I was reading an old post where one of the posters said if the dh wanted to play at night, he had to pay attention all day, or at least that was the gist of it. I told him if he wanted any kind of attention from me, it was going to be a banking system and he was going to have to pay some attention to me first. Hoping it works.

Jacque: Welcome back stranger!! :) I'd wondered what happened to you, last I heard you were treading water in the rain and then not a peep for months. I remembered you'd mentioned an upcoming move, but was a little worried when you fell off the map, especially when the MSN group vanished at about the same time. Just a patio now, eh? You leave enough room for a chair or two between the pots? All: Who has doen the potato thing with success? I've tried it enough to have some thoughts, but if someone else could scratch out thier experience, from building the ring on to harvest, post a new thread as a "how to" and we'll join in with alternate ideas culminateing in a FAQ entry proposal for fine-tuning before posting. Having the alternate viewpoints is important to build balanced entries, as there are different scales of operation, climates, and even appearances its important to represent without just relying on one point of view (which migh be a great answer for some situations, but usually not all).

Lots of great suggestions for what to cook, but I don't think anybody has mentioned the 'paperwork'. Keeping track of what's in that freezer can be one of the biggest challenges. For this project to work over the long haul, you really need to set up some sort of system. Doesn't have to be real sophisticated -- just reasonably accurate. Most of these suggestions are just common sense and you've probably already thought of them. But it never hurts to have a reminder, right? :) First, you need to label each container so you'll know what's in there. After it's frozen, it's often hard to tell what it is, especially when it's an ingredient rather than a completed dish. Are those "nuggets" in the ziplock bag chicken or catfish? And did you brown that ground beef plain or with Tex-Mex seasonings? And if it's a casserole, you don't want to have to peel off the foil to see if you're having lasagna or pastitsios for dinner. Dating everything is always helpful since most things taste better if eaten within a few months of freezing. And in some cases, of course, dating is absolutely essential to avoid spoilage. Broth is a prime example. Like several have said, keeping broth in the freezer is one of the real secrets to staying ahead in the cooking game. But beef, chicken, vegetable and shrimp broth all should be used within a certain period of time -- and the safe point for each of them is different. So do date your containers! Also, it's *very* helpful to include cooking instructions on the label -- especially since you're anticipating that your DH will have to do a lot of this on his own. A sample label might read: Lasagna 2/08/08 Uncover and thaw on counter for 1 hour. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 min. Sprinkle grated mozzarella on top and cook an additional 10 min., until cheese melts. Allow to sit for 10 min. before slicing, meanwhile sticking garlic bread in oven. To avoid writing this out everytime, it's easy to set up for a label-printing program. The other thing I think is so important is to keep a master list of what's in the freezer. Maybe tape it to the top, and just mark off stuff as it's used. Otherwise, you're clueless as to your 'resources'. The record-keeping is a huge drag. But if you don't do it, I can almost promise you that you'll quickly get lost. Best of luck! sm

I wish you luck. Most interviewers are looking for a LIKEABLE person (which you are), and a team player (check), and one who can shoulder responsibility (check) and who can *lead*. I don't know your leadership qualities, but I'd guess they are also...check! Remember, you may not get the gold ring on the first go-round, but people will remember how you presented yourself. What does the school want in a dean? What would you do to be effective in the position?

Hi Anj, sure sounds like you had a busy day! I reread my prior post, it's 1000 pictures he paid to have scanned, not 100 as I mis-typed. Anyway, that project is coming along. Really took me on a trip down memory lane looking through and sorting all the pictures. Even ran across an old scrapbook with letters from old boyfriends in it that was in the bottom of a box. Took the time to read a few, hard to remember the "girl" I was waaay back then! LOL I have two boxes of pictures and other mementos that were Rich's Grandmother's. Lots of them are really old, makes me a bit nervous to think about entrusting them to strangers! It would take me forever to scan them all myself though, will take long enough just to go in and identify them once they are on the computer. But I'm really glad we are doing this, will be good for my son and granddaughter to have them where they can view them easily. I'm going to sort and pack the mementos and returned pictures in a little better order although it will be up to my son what he does with them someday. I said I need projects to keep me occupied and it looks like this will be a big one! Does your Mom watch the baby when you have appointments? Makes it nice that she is so close? Do you have snow? We've had some nice rains and even sleet one day! Is your DH's new job going okay? I really hope he likes it and it lasts a long time. The job market is so unpredictable now it would seem. Thinking about pulling out my bin of Valentine decorations and putting a few out. I had painted those new plaques a few years back and have only used them once I think. Would be nice to get them out to enjoy again. My life is slowly falling back into place somewhat. Still miss my DH everyday, but developing some new routines of meeting friends for breakfast/lunch and starting to do some yard work and projects. Just have to accept that things will never go back to the way they were no matter how much I wish for it. If you guys ever get down this way, please allow some time to come visit me. I'm between the 210 and 10 freeways so not far out of the way at all, and I would be so delighted to see you. So where's our Belle? Wish she would stop by and give us an update on things. If something is hard, then it is probably not worth.. Life is what happens while you are making other plans. Live Your Life Crazy and love every second of it; in black, blue, pink and green text with a crazy laughing character for the A in crazy. The only way to have a life is to commit to it like crazy..

you are 8 months pregnant and don't want sex, well duh...Your DH is not aware that you are about to give birth or what? Hmmm I see from your previous posts that he is not very sensitive to your or everyone else's needs, well it didn't change apparently. He is who he is.

I looked at the dates and it looks like you already gave birth, hopefully it went well and baby is healthy.

Life is crazy....!
