Christie, that's a great link! The pirate treasure chests and wall clock are so enchanting. Citymom, I think your idea of emphasizing the nautical feel versus going over the top with pirate accessories is key to helping the room's appeal last longer. My youngest son is 6, and I'm doing a subtle nautical look too. He wanted a lamp so badly, like his big brother, and I found a very nice deep red one with a ship's steering wheel on it at a Pottery Barn outlet, very reasonably priced. But, like you, I didn't want to get too carried away with way too many themed accessories. However, with that said, the boys' fishy bathroom is another story - lol. kelleg, no, I am not sure where I saw it except it was on the company's web site. I ran across it one day while I was surfing the web. Now I can't find it. I will go to HGTV and see what I can find there. oakleyok,what I am talking about are the letters/words that stick on the wall that look like they have been stenciled. I guess they are vinyl. I have not seen any in person, but you can get words, phrases, etc. There are several websites that you can find these or you can get them off ebay. Thank you both for your answers.

Hi - sorry for the delayed response, we went away for the weekend. Hated to leave my new kitchen, but the kids deserved some sort of a summer after dealing with the remodel. My "Yawn" title is tounge in cheek, I figured you are all tired of all the cream cabinet/soapstone kitchens - but of course each one *is* unique, and I love seeing each and every one of them. Sundownr - I don't know if I had a comment on that light fixture or not, but my brother & his then girlfriend gave that to me as a wedding present. It came from a foo-foo artisan place in Cambridge, MA. It was high style for the times (88) :-) Rubyfig, the towel bar is a find from the bath department of Marshalls (but I saw the same ones at TJ Max and home goods). It's 18", and I think I paid $10 :-) Which is WAY less than the $140 for the Fusion Sonoma one that matches my soap dispenser. I can't wait to see pictures of your kitchen with the backsplash - I decided to forego one in my kitchen, partly a budget decision, partly due to the size, etc., I am trying to keep it simple. Brutuses - actually, that's the Electrolux French door, but same difference about the ice, I'm sure. I don't have to worry about a dog (until my brother brings his to visit), but I'll keep that in mind! Penny, the cabinets *are* cream - and the biscotti is definitely on the yellow side of the creams, but the KD brought the biscotti and the other one (linen?) to my house, and I realized that it was almost an exact match for the paint I had done in our adjacent office and paneling. I love it, but I'm glad it's so easy to clean, because you do see every drip (although, maybe not every fingerprint, because I noticed them on the close up pictures of the hardware, but not before then :-) Thanks to all for the compliments - I do love it, and I think it will really improve our quality of life. It's easier to work in, excellent to entertain, and is easier to clean up. It will take a little getting used to it, but I'm finding it's coming a lot quicker than I thought it would, which is a good sign, right? Lydia, we're slow, too. And messy--good grief, are we ever! He really wanted to do it all yesterday, but by the time he picked up my paint samples and went to Lowe's for the paint, there just wasn't time. I was going to call Habitat to take that big king-sized bed, but the painter said he'd be happy to have it. So that's all taken care of, too. Nita, I'm so glad you and Carol will be able to come again! You're both so much fun. I sure hope the weather is better than it was last year. Remember how cold and rainy it was? Ick! Maybe Joann fl and her DH and JoanMN/FL and her DH will be able to join us this year. Paint really does make it seem like a brand new house and I'm so relieved the colors turned out right. Harry thought they were a little dark and I told him to trust me. Whew, so glad he likes them. Today he's painting our bedroom and bath. The brown even when dried doesn't seem really dark. Hope Harry is as pleased with it as with the other. Thanks for all the happy wishes. It's just such a relief to have it all done.
