Spanish Revival/Mexican/Mediterranean Style - Part X
Comments (15)Thanks for all the kind sentiments about our babies. I am sleep-deprived but very happy. :-) Well...I just HAD to get some Mexican flair in at least one room of this house and I chose the nursery to do that in. I didn't quite get the nursery done before their births due to bedrest so it's still a work in progress. The walls are painted orange (gasp!) and the window treatment includes Mexican paper flowers. One of the walls has the beginnings of a Mexican Tree of Life with paper birds, tin milagros (from the twins' godmother by way of Albuquerque), a Cuzco-style oil of the Santo Nino (I bought it while in San Miguel Dec 06...hoping for a pregnancy miracle) and not sure what else I'll be adding to the tree. I'll post some progress photos. It's taking me much longer than I anticipated. Where are you all and where are all the photos?????...See MoreEliminate dining room? Mexican decor ideas?
Comments (3)Yes - pics of the area(s) would help a bunch. Do you have any Mex/Spanish stores (furniture + accessories) in your area? Alternatively do you vacation in Mex/Arizona/New Mex? That is how I've been accumulating my accesories as I surely don't live in proximity to the above. :-)) Try your local library for a book called *Mexicolor* linked below for color combos if you're unsure or confused about that issue. Is the condo new to you or brand new? If the latter, perhaps you aren't prepared to be re-doing floors too awfully quickly? Zapotec rugs might be an alternative. They'd certainly work with the leather. In my profile is a link to my website. Under Casita Alegria, there is a Resources page where I've collected many links (and have quite a few I've not yet added - must get to that!). Looking thru some of those may also give you some ideas to get you going. If you can take some pics of the space, present flooring and furniture and post them, we'll happily help out more. :-)) Here is a link that might be useful: Mexicolor...See MoreRE: Spanish Revival/Mexican/Mediterranean Style - Part IX
Comments (150)BinsB How GREAT! I'd guess by now the 'kids' are knocking from the outside - yes? Paleese post a pic if you can. We'd all (I'm sure) love to see your accomplishments :-))) after waiting soooo long. Love the orange colors of the nursery but mmm - are they really going to sleep in one crib? :-)) Just kidding. When you have time, which likely won't be for awhile I'm sure, would love to see the nursery with the paper flowers, et al. Not to worry about the non-span house of present. It's the spirit inside that can carry it thru. Imagine what a tough time I have in my location. LOL!! You'll have lotsa fun (when/if you can find the time) doing some special stuff in your new abode. Trop - hmmm pictures this year? LOL! That will be fun to see. I'll look forward (but won't hold my breath too awfully long). :-))) I'm thinking maybe you just eliminated the kitchen altogether and are doing take out now? Houseful it's great to have you posting again. Perhaps you can help us breathe some life back into this thread as I know Bins is going to be rather busy over the next while. :-)) If it weren't for her dedication, I'm sure this thread would no longer exist. I have a few things on my plate but hopefully they will be resolved shortly and I can return to my decorating love. And speaking of thread(s), I didn't check but I'm thinking we must be getting close to limit - yes? Should we be starting a new thread? Waddya all think? Take care all, Holly...See MoreExterior Ideas to late 70's Spanish Style Home
Comments (11)It looks very dark, so maybe trim up some of those trees to allow some light to come in. Those niches, definitely need something. Maybe some type of metal art. You definitely need landscaping. A good idea would be to have a nursery draw up a landscaping plan. If you have the budget to do all of it now, that would be great, but, if you dont, then it could be done in phases, as long as you have a total design. Oh, and have someone professionally trim those shrubs that have a bowl shape on the right hand side. They would look much nicer if they were trimmed to a normal shape....See Moreblueiris24
