Question: Friend had period after menopause
Comments (1)I have been told that if you don't have a period for a year and then have one, you should see your OB/GYN. I had one after a year of no periods, but thought it was normal, since I had all the other symptoms that go with PMS too. However 3 years seems a bit long. I would encourage her to see an OB/GYN to make sure all is okay. Anything is possible as far as getting pregnant! But not if she hasn't had sex!...See MoreCan Peri-Menopause Reverse?
Comments (3)Boy, can I relate to this post. I could of wrote this myself. I had an FSH of 29 two years ago, along with horrible symptoms of irregular heartbeats , extreme anxiety, Insomnia...on and on. The Doc said early Menopause, I had it retested last month, it was 4 !!!!! I had the same reaction as you... I am expecting the worst, as some of my symptoms have lessened , now I am thinking it will all start over full force. I had waited to re-test the FSH , and thought that maybe I was Post , as I have felt somewhat better with some of the symptoms... I had my Uterus removed 15 years ago, so no periods to help establish where I am in all this. I am confused as to what this all means just like you, You are the first one I have found to have the same issue, sorry for you, but a relief for me to have someone to talk to !! I am wondering if it has something to do with he Thyroid.. as I am Hypothyroid, with Hashimotos Disease. I was curious before, but now I see you have Thyroid issues also, wondering if there is a connection... the Thyroid is part of the Endocrine system like the Ovaries ... Anyways, I feel like I am rambling.. just know that you are not alone, and I hope you fee better knowing that someone else is dealing with the same craziness, I know I sure do. Peace, Rebecca...See MoreRecent "diagnosed" with menopause still having periods??
Comments (1)Yes it does. I am 63 - menopause hit at 57. But last year I started spotting so I called my doctor and I had to go for the water-drinking horrible ultrasound. It revealed a thickened uterine lining and small fibroids so I had to go to a gyno. She did the biospy in her office - it really hurt and she couldn't get much but fortunately just enough for the lab to check for cancer. There wasn't any. She prescribed 2 prometrium pills of 100 mg a day for 4 months and that took care of the problem. Jump forward to Sept. of 2013 and the spotting was back so once again the horrible ultrasound and then the biopsy in her office. Again she managed to get just enough - although she was doubtful. Had the lab not had enough of a sample to check for cancer I would have had to go into the hospital for a biopsy - I expected it would be by a local, much like a cysto - but no, you are put under. I am one of those who do not sedate well - it has the opposite effect. A local that should last 3 hours will last maybe 5 - 10 minutes at most. A doctor can put me under but I won't stay under for long. So I was grateful that I didn't have to have that done. In your situation I think the test is required. People think that I have a higher tolerance for pain than the normal person - I don't - I just know what is going to happen. Actually the gyno was very impressed that I didn't say boo on her table. I hope everything works out for you, but if you don't take the test and you do have a major problem you will kick yourself later. Despite knowing what would happen to me in the hospital I would have been there in a nanosecond - or however long it took for the gyno to arrange the test - I live in Canada so probably a year....See MoreAnyon experience this? Age 53 - very heavy bleeding
Comments (7)To any of you suffering from heavy bleeding, I long ago figured out the culprits and cures - yes, cures. First - here's my YES list, then later, see what to avoid. My YES list: Loads of good-quality Bing cherries, and/or Juice of black cherry concentrate. NOT from toxic plastic containers, rather glass. And the more Viscous it is, the better (i.e. more sticky, slow-to-flow. Also: lots of probiotic yogurt such as Vanilla or Peach Stonyfield. Or Raspberry Lifeway-Kefir. Also: Lysine/smooth type of foods, such as Eggs, yams, yellow oils, veggies, Unsalted soda crackers, sweet/sticky fruits/melons. Also: see my tips on this "flu" site, because alot of those tips may resonate with you and help toward the bleeding issues as well. https://lysine4flu.wordpress.com/ Also: Gabapentin might help (if you can get a doctor to prescribe it). It helps to relax my nerves toward computer(EMF) use, and relieves headaches, so I suspect it can relieve bleeding. My NO list: Heavy exposure to bright lights & EMFs & WIFI & so forth. Hi sodium, citric-acid, citrus, sodium-nitrite, sodium-citrate. Some of these can be hidden inside foods at health stores as well. Spices, raw onion, raw garlic. Some of these can be hidden inside health foods. Stress/chemicals. See my common-sense examples in my above wordpress blog, re: "Arginine vs. lesser arginine". With emphasis on the last italicized paragraph. Hope this helps....See Morecatherinet
