Hey, guys, my pleasure! At first, the cost of the Foliage Pro 9-3-6 might seem a little high, but when you are only using 1 teaspoon per gallon, and supplying ALL the micro-nutrients in one fell swoop, you begin to see its value. If there were another fertilizer that offered the same qualities, I would certainly let you know. Bruce, I use Foliage Pro all year....from seedlings to overwintering mature plants. For seedlings, I start with a 1/4 strength dose, then I gradually increase the dosage until I'm fertilizing at full strength. During the winter, I drop the strength back down to 1/4 strength. I actually use Foliage Pro for every single one of my plants - succulents, tropicals, conifers, maples, oaks, birch, citrus - any plant that I grow in a container. The only alteration I make is in the concentration of the dose. Succulents I fertilize very lightly, 1/8 or 1/4 strength, and I don't fertilize as often. But with Citrus, which are heavy feeders, I increase the dosage and fertilize weekly during the Summer. Studies have shown that *most* plants (not all) use nutrients very close to a 3:1:2 ratio. The main difference is in the amount of nutrients that are used....but the ratio doesn't really change. Josh

What Bruce said. A good way to keep from overwatering is the skewer test --- take a bamboo skewer, stick it in the soil, if soil comes out on it, don't water. No soil, water thoroughly. Let dry out again before watering thoroughly again. Sounds also like you may have had damping off fungus. To prevent this, bottom water. Also, set up a small fan to circulate the air. To deter fungus gnats, sprinkle a bit of cinnamon around the seedlings. To kill fungus gnat larvae, water the plants with a 4:1 water to hydrogen peroxide(3%) solution. It does sound a bit late to start long season peppers like ghosts. An option for you could be to buy 6 plant minimum from Cross Country Nurseries. I also live in Michigan and my ghost peppers do really well outside from May until october. My first year I only got about 15-20 peppers. I overwintered the plant and planted it back in the ground last may. I just dug it up and brought it in the house for its second winter. This season I got well over 100 peppers. Your plant definitely looks like it needs more light. I put mine in the window for the winter but I am not trying to get it to produce...just to survive. It thrives in direct sun all spring/summer/fall. I think if you keep it going through the winter and get it outside next spring you will be rewarded with a nice harvest.
