September 2010 I had a vaginal hyst., unfortunately they nicked my bladder by accident so that took a longer healing time. I felt like my abdominal area puffed up and stayed that way for a few months. I walked but didn't really exercise for awhile. A year later(2011), I was ready to get back into shape. I've been derailed over holidays with cookies etc.:)Ready to get back to it. I must say it is nice to not be tired all the time (my iron was 8.2 instead of 11 or 12) So, I will keep you in my prayers and may 2012 hold health and happy days ahead for us all! Blessings, Kim :)

I had a total hysterectomy at the age of 36 due to an ovarian cycst the size of a grapefruit. (It had become that large in a matter of 3 weeks). They had prepared us for it being cancerous but luckily it was not. When they opened me up, I also had endometrosis everywhere. They literally had to scrape all my internal organs and even removed my appendix. I had already had uteral surgery to help me get pregnant and a C-section with the smiley shaped incision but they had to do a huge incision that goes from above my belly button all the way down to you know what! It kinda looks like an anchor with both incisions. Let me say this was way back in 1986 so alot has changed since then. I took estrogen and progestone for a few years then dropped it to just estrogen. I stoppped that about 10 years ago now and my biggest complaint is that everything on me is dry. I have tried the creams and stuff but nothing seems to work. Hot flashes come and go but overall that isn't my main issue. I still have paps done every three years - its actually more of the lining of course but you should still be checked for endometrial cancer. The estrogen threat is not just for the ovarian cancer but also breast. It was actually my husband who suggested I talk with my doctor about stopping the estrogen as it was being discussed among the doctors at the cancer center where he works in Radiation Therapy. As I said that was 10 years ago or more. So much depends on your age - I was so young at the time, the hormones were basically a necessity but now I am glad I have stopped them.

I'm baaaaccccckkkkk! The surgery went very smoothly and I actually feel pretty darn good. I am happy to report that the doc found no problems with the ovaries so they got to stay. The only time I've felt "pain" was Tuesday, just after surgery. They hooked me up to the pain pump and that was the end of it. I am now doing the oral narcotics and they have it all under control nicely. I have to say that it's soooo good to be back home! My skin crawls with the narcotics so having my own (cotton) sheets, pj's, towels, etc. makes all the difference in the world. So, all I can say at this point is that things are going very well, and it really was not all that bad after all :) I'm still very tired, though, so I'll have to settle in with a movie--I'm quite sure I'll fall asleep watching it, but that is just fine! Im 46 I had a hystectomy about 3 years ago. she [dr.]decided to do a vaginal,leaving ovaries in. well the hystectomy was easier than having my children as my first weighed 10lbs12 oz the other 2 were 10 lbs. I had to laugh I woke up to find this gorgeous male all dressed up in leather coat. I thought who the hell is this.I had a woman dr. never seen him. Well he preceeded to tell me he helped with the hysterectomy and was telling me was my uterus ever large. She come in next day to tell me she had trouble getting it out her arms actually hurt from pulling. well everything went fine end of 6 weeks I was invited to a banquet ,felt fine i was going up the stairs to get ready and could hardly lift my leg my knee hurt real bad. I went to banquet to move my leg I had to reach under table with both hands and hold my breath to keep from screaming to move my leg it hurt so bad, Well next morning i got up no pain at all. As the day went on the other leg my ankle same thing it hurt soo bad. It went all through my body hands,feet,arms,legs some days arms and legs both. I couldnt go stairs my husband had to help. i couldnt get out of a chair he had to help as I couldnt put weight on my hands to get up. I called ,this went on for 1 1/2 months.She wouldnt see me.She said it wasnt her problem. I said you were last one that worked on me. no she wasnt interested.I think a nerve was damaged Thinking of her pulling like she said she did to get uterus out.Has anyone else had this.?
