Need help making exterior not so plain - Pics included

I'd sure love some help in sprucing up our plain exterior.:-) We need to choose exterior paint colors, as the painter is almost ready to start. Right now it's an ugly primered gray color(can't wait to see that gone!). We were thinking a tan or putty color for the siding and a soft white or cream for the fascia trim. Do you think that would look good with our red brick and white grid windows? You can maybe see in the pic where we've played with a couple of tan colors on the box window. If anyone has a good BM or SW color to recommend that would be great!:-)

Would shutters look good? If so, how many and what size and color? What about some fake vent things painted the same color as the trim for above the windows upstairs? Just trying to think of some things that might help the front look a little better. We will have 6 10" tapered round columns and 3' tall railing going across the front porch, so that should help. Here's a picture of our house, sorry it's not the best quality. I need to snap a new one.

Thanks for any advice you can give.:-)
