X-Post Where do you store whole house vac attachments? And.....
Comments (7)My attachments/hose are stored in the hall closet on a bracket attachment. It hangs on the side of the wall. The one in the garage is just hanging on the wall, by the workbench, with the attachments in a cabinet. I've always said I should have another hose for upstairs, but you know how that goes. Love my Vacuflo. It's going on 10 years and no problems. When the boys were at home I used it downstairs six days out of seven. Now with just the two of us, it goes about every three days, at least for the downstairs. I have two outlets in the garage. One is closest to the front so I can vac out cars while they're parked in the driveway. I'm picky about my vehicles, so they get vacuumed frequently. Also use it to vac out the RV. Actually hook two hoses together. Have the vacpan but the hose in the wall wasn't around when I had mine installed. When I moved my Mom out here, the first thing we did to her house was get a Vacuflo installed in her house. They just vacuum so much better than any portable vac. I originally bought it to help with allergies for my youngest son. This and a combination of running the HVAC system constantly, really helped keep his allergies in control. That's why there was always so much vacuuming going on. Had to work at keeping the pollen out of the house. And also does an excellent job of keeping the dog hair under control. I guess my only gripe is the rugrat attachment is very noisy. However, I don't know how they could quiet it down. And don't get it to close to small items. Otherwise you are going to be fetching it out of the container in the garage....See MoreWhat do you do in the mean time when you're decorating stuck?
Comments (6)Seriously, Honestly? I go to the Gallery and spend hours and hours going over all the latest pictures that Oceanna posted. Today, a little over 3 hours at the Gallery (Gee, thanks Oceanna! *wink*). Got nothing, zippo, nada done. Way too many ideas doing Funny Car crashes in my grey matter for me to make a firm decision on my projects so might as well go look-see everyone elses projects. Actually, truth be told there is no name for my 'style'. Believe me, I've searched. No way to describe it online so that I can get a decent search going. Because there is no name for my style, I come to a point where I get stuck ----- (the fact that my ideas have to be done on a miniscule budget makes it all that more difficult.) Kitchen not finished --- going on 15 months. Backyard/Garden Decor not done --- going on 7 months. Family Room not done --- going on 20 months. Sunroom not done --- going on 28 months. Master Bedroom not done -- going on 9 months. (Won't count the Master bath because in all fairness, we just started it. But I'm sure I'll come to a grinding halt there, too.) Why? Because I'm stuck, can't make a decision and stick to it because I can't find ideas for what I see in my mind's eye. I know there's got to be inspiration out there for what I'm trying to create but so far, haven't found it. I get ideas, tips and opinions from all the talented folks here and put them into play and all starts looking good but to head to the finish line? Nope. Isn't happening. So, I go to all the neato new photos on the Gallery side, thanks to Oceanna, kill a ton of time and not get a thing accomplished. Then I feel guilty for not accomplishing anything and I start the whole process over again. Amity, who is heading over to the gallery, again. lol...See MoreDo you think my cat will come back?
Comments (8)I am very sorry about this. Yes, your cat may be very, very close, hiding and SCARED. Is there any way you could leave a door open for him, if at least the garage, with food and water nearby, even if that attracts other cats? I don't have anything to add after all the great suggestions. As Kittens said, leave some of his favorite things (toys, small blanket, basket..? ) anything with HIS scent on the edge of your property... and keep going around calling his name... Does he eat canned food? walk around with a can and keep clicking it open, or shake a bag of treats, dry food.. whatever you think might be familiar to him.. With some "dementia" issues, who knows... he may just be hiding right under your nose... Hope the weather is OK where you live! One of my INDOOR cat did escape once in our old neighborhood, and came back 5 days later! So there are some happy endings... and NO Christmas present for your husband.. Just kidding, he must feel terrible! All my best, and keep us posted.. Looking for a happy ending Anne-Marie...See MoreWhen you have company do you clean the WHOLE house?
Comments (56)Returning to pipe in and say that I always clean the house from top to bottom before we leave on a trip. If something happens to us, no one will be thinking we were slobs (although, the house is usually pretty tidy anyway) and I love, love, love coming home to a clean house. It's like someone upthread said - it's like getting another week of vacation! Of course, by the time we bring in our luggage, groceries (always go shopping on the way home because no food in the house), mail and whatnot, it looks like a hurricane went through. Unpacking and putting everything away often takes a full day. But, we usually either do our laundry or send it out to be done before we come home. That way, we don't have to do a mountain of laundry when we get home. I always find having to do that after a lovely vacation a real downer....See Moresquirrelheaven
