Daybed/Trundle Bedding ?
Comments (6)juddgirl2, yes you are correct, I am going to have to hide that trundle which is very close to the ground, and I want the skirt to cover all that contraption and the mattress, so I will have to have a daybed cover - I am wanting it to look tailored and fit well. daisyadair, well I better not get a comforter, but more of a fitted spread type of thing - I hate it when comforters fall off the bed too - it is a pain in the neck. I am hoping to find a bedskirt that will be more fitted and tailored - want to keep my cats out of there too - not sure if that will work. Ha 1 I know one if not both ends will be visible on the room, so I want those covered too. We shall see. I do have a king sized chenille bedspread my mom gave me a long time ago that is a crisp white which might work - but I am not into crisp white colors in decorating. But I just talked to her the other day and told her she could have it back - she moved to a new place and wants a bigger bedspread - thank goodness I didn't get rid of it. Thanks for all your help. I am going to pick up the daybed/trundle this am so once I get it here I will be better able to tell what I need and how it will look in the room....See MoreYour opinion of daybeds with trundles
Comments (19)Our Dresher daybed is nearly 30 years old and it's in our tiny guestroom. The trundle frame is metal, rolls out, pops up and is the same height as 2 twin beds. We've used it for kids, sleepovers, teens and even a married couple who pushed them together and used a king top sheet and comforter. When ny nephew stayed with us he was transitioning from a crib to a regular bed and we pulled the trundle out but left it folded on the ground so if he fell out of bed he'd have a nice soft landing. I wouldn't want to use one regularly only because it's a little harder to make the bed....See MoreFunctional Fire Inside a Home?
Comments (25)Hi Autumn hopefully your new home, however tight, includes an outdoor-air ventilation system. Basically, a dedicated fan that exchanges indoor air with outdoor air. Energy raters, home performance contractors and some HVAC professionals can evaluate and advise if not. For health more than humidity. There is no such thing as too tight. The tighter the better. Your descritpions sound like classic leaky, inefficient house to me. Dry, leaking winter air requiring excessive heating during the cold season and infiltrating humid summer air the wrongly sized AC, can't deal with in the warm season. Could be wrong just sayin. Strive for cooktops vented to the outdoors and if having home performance contractors out to evaluate, have them check bath vent fans. They should be exhausting at least 50 CFM, most dont. Keep the bath door closed while showering and vent until moisture is gone. Easy ways to control big sources. A lot of moisture comes from the ground which is harder to fix on existing construction. Hopefully you don't have a crawlspace and maybe a home performance contractor can make suggestions for the foundation. Exterior grading adjustments uphill of my old home have stopped basement water intrusion, keeping it much drier. For vulnerable foundations lacking appropriate finish grading, gutters should be used and maintained with reckless abandon. I feel most east coast climates require at least some summer air-conditioning, even in MI. Mini-split heat pumps are a good solution but don't settle for HVAC contractor sizing and brand recommendations. Try to find a third party to evaluate needs for load sizing and brand. One can probably lower energy bills by offsetting some of the gas-burning. Lower energy costs plus my friends in PA and uncle in WY appreciate your concerns over their well water quality from fracking threats....See MoreSeeking layout suggestions for a warm, uncluttered front living room
Comments (62)I’d put my dining room in that space and turn your old dining room into an office and add some glass doors to your new office (old dining room). That way you can set up a dedicated space for your homeschooling. You don’t need two living rooms back to back. Put your piano against the stair wall where the guitars currently are. Put your dining room hutch on the 13’4” wall and hang the guitars on the other wall space (opposite the front windows). Hang your guitars so they are like artwork....big one in the middle and smaller ones on either side. Paint the chair rail white and all the wall space below the same white as well. This will help to blend your heaters. Paint above the chair rail a warm grey colour. Benjamin Moore Collingwood is one example and a google search will come up with other popular colors. One last suggestion is to get some full length curtains to frame those windows. Black and white check curtains will give that room a farmhouse feel. Black and White Curtains...See MoreUser
